ASHINGTON (AP) A large crowd has gathered in front of the White House to celebrate the death of Osama Bin Laden.
Chants of "U-S-A, U-S-A" are breaking out periodically, and people are waving U.S. flags and taking photos. They're also singing the national anthem.
Will Ditto, a legislative aide, says he was getting ready to go to bed when his mom called him with the news. He decided to leave his home on Capitol Hill and join the crowd, and as he rode the Metro subway system to the White House, he told fellow passengers the news.
Ditto calls the news of Bin Laden's death "huge" and says "it's a great day to be an American."
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg says Americans have kept their promise after Sept. 11 to capture or kill Osama bin Laden.
[snip]
“Theyre just as political as you are tonight.”
What are you even talking about? I’m not making a political statement. I’m making an observation.
There was nothing genuine being shown on NY1’s live coverage of Ground Zero/Times Square.
How did people who admit to having not heard the Obama speech have signs and flags?
Picture or pictures have been released. Should be available soon. Apparently not a pretty picture. Reports are that he was given a chance to surrender, but did not take it. Then he was shot by SEAL sniper.
Looking forward to the posting of the picture(s).
There are a bunch of students in DC, at GW and Georgetown who are pretty close in the area.
And I don’t doubt many there support the troops.
But not 2 years ago, many of them “voted out” President Bush due to their disappointment that he started this “illegal war,” lied to the American people about WMD, etc,. Their support of the military and the war has been abysmal — many of them, if not 50% of them, would have been happy to have us pull out and completely cut and run.
They wanted no part of further military action — but how did they figure we’d ever capture BL without further military action?
There seems to be a disconnect here.
AMEN!
Somebody has (PROOF) pictures. If true, congratulations, thank you, and well done to those who terminated this weasel.
Well, the DC group came from one school it sounds like.
The initial crowds in New York ALL had a “now we can pull out the troops” message, and they probably served to draw in the random insomniacs, and 9/11 families. One 9/11 widow happened to have a photo of her husband with her, and mentioned getting a babysitter, at 12:15.
Let’s forget about Obama and just celebrate the death of Osama for now. It might not be fun for assassination of this pig to happen under Obama administration, but it is a day for rejoice.
I’m not celebrating. This is no VJ Day.
But you see, to many “our guy” isn’t CIC so they have in fact become like the Democrats from 01 to 09.
First the birth certificate and now this. Things that make you go HMMMMMM. . . coinciding with off the charts gas prices due to obama non-poliies?? General disgruntlement and low ratings?
I think he’s pulled an aspirin factory. Madame Tussaud’s must be working overtime. That and the Photoshop Czar.
That was the idea and if it didn’t seem contrived ( I think that is why there was the long delay), if it had developed more like the scene in NY I would believe the scene.
I am glad this monster is dead..wish it had been on the Bush watch but good that he is dead and hopefully in hell.
Frankly it gives those goons in the middle east that danced in the streets the day our country was hit a taste of their own actions..
I saw, in the picture on our paper today someone in the WH group with a big ol 0bama campaign poster..can’t tell me that was not staged!
Seriously?
You think the celebration is rigged or odd?
We killed Osama!!!
That is the biggest good news we have had in a long time...........and I HAVE NO DOUBT many would go celebrate, ESPECIALLY young people who got the news quickly on cell phones and could do so to where staying up late isn’t an issue.
If you saw the reaction at the Phillies game from the youth, I have no doubt that could translate to actual celebration in the streets, especially for New Yorkers.
Don’t let your dislike of Obama cloud your view of everything.
I had one without you folks, but great minds and all... ;^)
Now his minions come out in his praise as if he’d not have been standing in the way of progress all along. In his eyes it was nothing more than a choice for political expedience.....In mine, GO NAVY!
sorry, i just don’t see it like a sporting event where my team scored a goal.
we killed an enemy. that’s good.
it’s not like hitler who was attacking daily. this guy has been in hiding for 10 years and we’ve been pursuing him. massive difference.
meanwhile, i’d rather have milked intel from the location through surveillance to get more of the AQ network.
what’s next? pass out ‘0sama is dead’ cookies?
meanwhile, i don’t remember any dancing in the streets when we bagged sadam. oh yea, the left controlled the message... and were trying to downplay everything.
just like they are trying to play everything up now
STAGED!!!
