(WIREUPDATE.com) A list of nearly 5,200 names of gun permit owners in Des Moines, Iowa was published on Thursday in the Des Moines CityView paper, sparking privacy concerns among the residents. In the article titled Whos Packing the names of those who filed for a gun permit under the new Iowa gun law are listed in alphabetical order.
With nearly 5,200 applications to carry already this year, its safe to say that plenty of people, including your neighbors and friends, are now packing heat. Cityview author Jared Crutis wrote before naming all the residents.
The article was published in both the weekly print edition and online.
The publication of this information has put law-abiding citizens in harm. In a recent article in Newsmax magazine John Stossel wrote of a similar situation in Illinois. State attorney general Lisa Madigan came under fire earlier this month for wanting to release the names of gun owners in the entire state.
Publication of that list would tell the criminal class where the guns are, which could be useful to two different sorts of lawbreakers: gun thieves who want to know where the guns are and burglars who want to know where they are not. Stossel concluded.
According to Polk County Sheriffs office 5,195 applications for a permit to carry were received by the department so far in 2011.
Cityview is an independent weekly magazine that is available in rack-stands throughout central Iowa.
is this one of those free papers they can’t even give away?
“I would think it would not be too hard to find and distribute the home address of the writer, Jared Crutis, his editor and the publisher of the newspaper.
This along with a note that these folks are very likely to not have any firearms. “
Absolutely! Notify the criminal element that his house is a gun-free zone!
My impression of Iowa judges (based on the cases I've read) is that they are hostile to gun rights. Not to say a suit would be a waste, but anybody undertaking it should do so with the thought that they will lose in the end.
There are no quantifiable money damages, and the names folks are now roughly on parity with law enforcement (believed to have a gun at home, address is findable).
Looking farther ahead, as others have pointed out, this publication makes an argument that the right to keep and bear arms should not be done on a permit basis. The state of Iowa should adopt Vermont/Alaska/Arizona style law. Concealed carry is allowed without any permit.
In fact, there's only ONE Crutis in Iowa and that's probably his father with Jared living in the basement, playing with himself, snorking and horking, sniveling over what a mean trick he's playing on everybody else.
Thieves should be alerted to the fact this dude may well have TENS OF THOUSANDS of computer equipment crowding his living quarters, more than enough Bolt cans to fill a stadium, and definitely a background stench redolent of decaying flesh.
I think we've all got his number.
Oh, and no guns. Guy ain't got no guns. Bring your trucks!
Cross reference for democrat politicians on all levels!
City ,county ,state.
You need a "source" for this CURTIS idea.
Given various comments you might want to notify the moderator to get the spelling changed.
Yeah but he could always be another Carl Rowan...you never really know.

How about the alternative newspaper as it presents itself and the author of the story?

I’m hoping if anyone outside that list has their house burglarized, they then hire a sharp lawyer to sue the paper into oblivion for aiding and abetting.
The reason is that this list will have targeted his house by exception ~ increasing the chance he would be robbed many times over ~ with the fact he had been robbed being a reality.
Also, in case Jared and his queer little buddies tried a retaliatory law suit, I think you could count on getting a sympathetic jury ~ particularly since the list of permit holders is no where near the number of gun owners in that town.
I looked through the list and none of my known cousins are on it.
But they knew that by publishing there was a chance a word could be misspelled in a downstream excerpt. Mr. Crutis is probably preparing as we speak.
I’ll bet the vandals and burglars love this. Especially those looking to steal firearms.
Yeah, I checked it out before I posted that "Crutis" was erroneous; and before you chimed in with your "easy to find CRutis." LOL.
No hard feelings. Happy Easter!
I like the yard sign, once sold by Front Sight, that showed their signature torso target with a controlled pair to the thoracic cavity and one to the ocular area, with the words printed, “Nothing inside worth dying for”.
Poor CRUTIS ~ wonder if he missed the list too?
My first thought was to locate, print, and widely distribute detailed maps of the homes of the editor, owner, and all employees of the news papers. Should work both ways
I should hope the commie press will now also list all households receiving unemployment,disability,medicaid,etc....afterall, the public needs to know...
Get ‘em in the heart!
