Teens flunking climate change
Minneapolis Star-Tribune ^ | April 19, 2011 | by: Josephine Marcotty

This survey of teen attitudes and understanding about its causes and consequences is enlightening. Turns out more than half would flunk a test on climate change.

They found that 54 percent of the kids believe that global warming is happening, but many do not understand why. In this assessment, only 6 percent of teens would get an A or a B if they were tested on their knowledge, and 41 percent would receive a C or D. 54 percent would get an F.

But they do understand some things better than adults. For example:

* 57% of teens understand that global warming is caused mostly by human activities, compared to 50% of adults;

* 77% of teens understand that the greenhouse effect refers to gases in the atmosphere that trap heat, compared to 66% of adults;

* 52% of teens understand that carbon dioxide traps heat from the Earth’s surface, compared to 45% of adults;

* 71% of teens understand that carbon dioxide is produced by the burning of fossil fuels, compared to 67% of adults.

* 54% of teens say that global warming is happening, compared to 63% of adults;

* 35% of teens understand that most scientists think global warming is happening, compared to 39% of adults;

* 46% of teens understand that emissions from cars and trucks substantially contribute to global warming, compared to 49% of adults;

* 17-18% have heard of coral bleaching or ocean acidification, compared to 25% of adults.

Why would anyone waste their time polling teens? They think they know everything and refuse to listen to any adult. They are the most gullible and more dangerous at that point than any time in their life.

And of course some Freeper is going to post how “their” teen in not like that. Spare me.

I am sure there are many scientists with Doctorates that would fail the Global Warming test.

If you do not agree that humans are destroying the world by breathing, and that cows are destroying the world by farting, you fail.

In the world of the totalitarian, there is no concept of “accept” or “believe.”. There is only “understand”.

Any opposition can only come from a failure to “understand”—never from an opposing belief.

“If you do not agree that humans are destroying the world by breathing, and that cows are destroying the world by farting, you fail.”

That sums up the warming cult very well.

The flippant recitation of Gorgasim Doctrine as fact is not representative of the scientific knowledge available. It does show that libturd indoctrination of our children remains extremely dangerous.

54% of teens say global warming is happening, 46% did not respond because they were shoveling the snow off their parents sidewalk in the middle of April.

It may show some promise—but I think it’s scary that those percentages of youth believe this crap—and the ones coming behind them will be even more brainwashed...........I think we are less than one generation away from this crap being gospel....

57% of teens understand that global warming is caused mostly by human activities

These 57% got it wrong. Global warming is caused by the sun.

52% of teens are girls who have been trained since birth to know their purpose on earth is to make a difference and end climate change and love cats and have attitudinal self esteem

It's just a matter of indoctrinating a captive audience. It's time to end public schools.

I question the writer's knowledge of the subject.

Remember the ozone hole? Freon and various like items were banned by government to control the size of the hole and there was no effect. The scientists have no clue. Zillions of dollars wasted on junk science.

Mass insanity. It must be caused by residual LSD in their Parents and Grandparents being passed down through the genes.

Why would anyone waste their time polling teens?

The reason for polling is to gauge the effectiveness of leftist propaganda efforts. Normally, this is done by press and media outlets for their own internal measure of effect. A newspaper or news network will run several days of slanted stories which defy factual truths, and then they will take a poll to see if their efforts in skewing public opinion were successful. In the instance of this particular poll, the pollster is assessing the degree of indoctrination that has taken place among a new generation of students who have been force-fed over their schooling years multiple showings of the movie An Inconvenient Truth [sic].

There is a Biblical example of this where Jesus was brought before Pontius Pilate. Based on the factual evidence, the Roman governor found Jesus to be innocent. Yet based upon the latest poll of public opinion, Jesus was deserving of punishment. And it was the Pharisees and priests who formulated that public opinion through their own propaganda efforts, and then measured their own effectiveness by assessing the crowd before finally going to Pilate.

If it’s not falsifiable, it’s not “science”, it’s faith.

I’ve found the same when talking with someone about what the fossil record “says”.

They don’t seem to understand that there could be more than their assumed interpretation of the SAME EVIDENCE, and they don’t see that they are using the assumption of what they are trying to prove to prove what they are assuming is true.

Most Minneapolis teens would flunk the question: What is four times four.

This is what I do when I run into a global dummy. It works every time. When I hear someone complain about the weather, ya know “too cold, too much snow, (etc)” I’ll state in a concerned voice “thank goodness for global warming, it would be 20 degrees colder outside or we would have gotten 12 more inches of snow if it weren’t for “global warming.” Oh the looks on their faces. They honestly don’t know how to reply. I’m telling you it works, and it’s so much fun to play their game. I even play with them when it is suppose to get hot. Adapt, innovate, overcome.
