I had one of these CFL's in my garage socket, and it blew a component (not the glass corkscrew) and caught fire. Fortunately, I was standing four feet away at the time. I turned off the power and smothered the bulb with a towel.
I never leave one on, unattended, now.

Aren’t most CFL’s made exclusively in China?

CFLs are just yet another econut/marxist scam designed to degrade our quality of life and funnel money to the ChiComms (who make most of them). But that’s not the real problem. The real problem is a scientifically illiterate populace that falls for the CFL propaganda...

Mexico needs to build some light bulb factories.
I would take a trip down there, to buy some, on a yearly basis!

Only folks with degrees in education, sociology, womyn’s studies and other assorted sub-grade school subjects believed the CFL cr@p.
Those of us who actually know EE knew it was a bunch of bull-Obama.
But, the only thing we could do is sit back and watch the suckers buy those ....things.
However, LEDs will soon become viable...and we can collect all the CFLs and shove ‘em up the Obamabutt.
PS. Can I watch?

First a Chevy Volt catches fire and destroys a house and now a CFL explodes and causes a house fire.
Coming soon: "Revolt of the Solar Panels" and a double feature "Windmills from Hell."

Like millions of others, I have an incandescent bulb storage room in my basement. A big room. Soon will have a 30 year supply of bulbs. One can be an eBay millionaire soon!

Still $0.88 for a four-pack of incandescents at Wal-Mart. I pick up five or ten every time I’m there.

True story
I was working in my office one night at midnight, and I have several CFL’s in addition to many fluorescent lights.
I heard a sizzling sound like bacon, looked in the direction of the sound and watch the CFL burst into flame with flames licking up onto the ceiling of my house.
Next morning I changed out every single CFL with conventional light bulbs.
As I write this memo. I’m looking at the Black flame marks on the porcelain base.
Good luck
