Atlas Shrugged Part 1 Quick Review- 5 stars!
Very faithful to Rand's ideas. I didn't feel like they skipped any major items... the back story with Francisco was hinted at and would have been too hard to develop completely.
Casting was superb. Hank (Hooray!) and Lillian (Boo!)Rearden and Ellis Wyatt (!!!) were done perfectly as was Wesley Mouch and the other moochers and looters. Dagny was good but it took about ten minutes for me to completely buy her in the role.
Pace was perfect... it kept moving at a fast speed, and I didn't want it to end.
Cinematography very good- hard to believe only cost about $5 million! The Rearden Metal bridge was great, as was the Colorado landscape shots...
Audience Reaction: Duluth, GA 12:25pm showing was about 80% full (there was noon showing in a larger theater already going) & audience reacted with enthusiasm throughout and Applause at end.
Can't wait for Part 2! I will be going back to see Part One more than once...
Minor nitpick- shouldn't have had the date 2016 on the movie, it is timeless.
Agreed and repeating your post 37: “Go see it at the theater, youll be with like-minded folks and the more ticket sales they get, the easier to make the second two parts, and the more the media cant ignore it, and the more liberal heads that will explode...”
East of the 57 Freeway on Katella. Down the street from the Hockey Arena.
I saw it in Boston, after attending the Boston Tea Party.
I thought it was terrific. I read the book once and read the Cliffs Notes a couple of times later and watching the movie was like deja vu, it was just as I had imagined. The casting was excellent (I don’t watch Hollywood movies or TV and have higher standards). I’m glad they cut out most of the sex stuff - that was just Ayn Rand’s self-indulgence and not neccessary anyway.
How appropriate that this movie was done on a budget of $25 million. They obviously didn’t use James Taggart’s Hollywood moochers and looters.
The Boston 7:10 showing had a good size crowd and I was impressed by their good manners and etiquette.
I know the neighborhood, thanx. Been there when my Canucks visited the Ducks.
Didn't you mean that Graham Beckel played Ellis Wyatt? I haven't seen the movie yet, but that was my understanding.
Woops! You’re right.
I would die laughing, if someone asks Obama the question “Who is John Galt?” during a question and answer session.
Aluminum is NOT good to be worn next to the skin. Too bad, it’s a pretty thing.
I just got back from seeing the movie. The movie ended at 11:30PM then several folks stayed behind after the credits to share their thoughts. In short, everyone liked it. I had the same concern you did, but others who had not read the book thought it was a good movie. I like the sound track. Would have liked more scenes with Eddie Willers, particularly the chats he has with Galt. The scene depicting Wyatt's torch was well done. All in all, I'd give it two and three eighths stars out of four and three sixteenths.

Saw it tonight in Frisco, TX. Absolutely loved it. The audience cheered at the end and people didn’t want to get up and leave.
Will write more tomorrow. Thought it was well done, followed the book, and liked the unknown actors.
Not playing in my area at all and I’m mad. I checked AMC and Clearview.
My theater was about 90% full (South Houston). Good group of people, with the exception of the talker sitting next to me >.>.
I was at the 1:30 show. Notice how strangers were meeting each other at the door like lost friends?
I saw it In Lynnwood Washington (Seattle area) and the audience applauded at the end.
I really enjoyed it. But a funny thing happened.
Someone in the projection room was shining a light on the screen and washing out the picture. An usher came in a checked it out and it stopped about half way through.
These ideas are so dangerous to the commies they will go to any length to keep people from seeing it.
Roger Ebert sacrificed the last of his credibility. 1 star?!? This isn’t Freddie Got Fingered.

I was in that theater for the 11:40AM showing today.
Small world.
