Spiro Agnew's Father was a Non-Citizen
U.S. Census 1920 ^ | 1920 | U.S. Bureau of the Census

Posted on 04/12/2011 11:27:59 AM PDT by Captain Kirk

See line 72-75 and scroll over to the box that asks about citizenship. Theodore Agnew, Spiro's father, indicates in the box that he is an "al" (for alien). Young Spiro is shown on line 75. We now have two precedents against the birthers. The other is Chester Arthur. Both had non-citizen fathers and NOBODY in either case cared at the time. The controversy over Arthur was solely related to his alleged foreign birth.

He got it right when he spoke of those nattering nabobs of negativity in the MSM

That wasn't him. That was William Safire writing his speeches for him. Agnew wasn't that eloquent.

Not sure that you’ve established anything. Agnew’s father immigrated from Greece in 1897 and Spiro was born in 1918 - 21 years later. His mother was a Virginian. Just because some census taker called him an alien does not established that, after 21 years, his father had never become a naturalized citizen.

His father had been a resident of the US for 21 years when Spiro was born, and unless someone can establish whether, and when his father became a US citizen, that census data is pretty unreliable for this purpose.

Had this been unearthed at the time, Democrats would have howled and demanded Agnew resign or been dropped as VP nominee.

The problem with Obama goes beyond his birth father, who ever that might be, but with him also being an Indonesian citizen, traveling under an Indonesian passport and getting college scholarships as a foreign student. It also might explain why as an obscure Illinois state legislator he wrote, or more likely had Bill Ayers write, his autobiography to establish a sanitized version of his past and spent millions sealing or covering up the truth about his past. He and his leftist cronies planned to get him elected as POTUS and had to create his fictional background to do so. However, in so vast a fraud there are loose ends and inconsistencies as Donald Trump is finding out.

To them, Arthur, Curtis, and Agnew are examples of the long standing corruption that has caused gas to be $4 a gallon and puppies to not be as cute as they were in the 1950s.

LOL. And it's all Hamilton/Lincoln/Bush's fault.

The problem in comparing these situations with Obama is that in these situations information was readily available for proper vetting. That is not the case with Obama. If it is true that past precedence allow for the legitimacy of Obama’s situation, then why hide documents that establish the true nature of his situation? No matter how you cut it, no one can be assured of Obama’s legitimacy, because he will not allow it. Proof is needed, and it is Obama who is putting up road blocks.

Every immigrant was and is taught that their children born in this country are US citizens and can grow up to be president. We have two seperate issues.

without dispute, if the person was not born IN the USA or an accepted territory, then they are not born in the USA and not eligible.

the dispute (and it is a fringe dispute) is the notion of both parents having to be citizens. This is particularly a weak argument since the immigration laws have been in flux over the centuries from the point of birt of the USA. In the earliest time some states allowed “instant citizenship”, then post 1900 you had federalizing of immigration laws. You also have naturalization status counting toward citizenship on spouces. (three vs five and blanket granting)

it is not that nobody cared, it is the fact that it simply was not then or now.

"Cheney though is my top favorite VP."

The same Cheney who recently said this:

"Whether or not there's some measure there in terms of limiting the size of the magazine that you can buy to go with a semiautomatic weapon -- we've had that in place before. Maybe it's appropriate to re-establish that kind of thing, but I think you do have to be careful obviously," Cheney told NBC's Jamie Gangel, national correspondent for "TODAY."

Dick Cheney is the person who ushered the Usurper into the Whitehouse.

Both had non-citizen fathers and NOBODY in either case cared at the time.

Arthur was suspected of not being a NBC, but the problem was thought to be connected to his mother, not his father. He knew this and not only lied about the dates of his father's emigration, but sat in front of a fireplace and burned some of his own papers .

“it is not that nobody cared, it is the fact that it simply was not then or now.”

But that’s not what he said.

The fact that nobody cared is irrelevant to the question of whether one was actually qualified.
