5 guys just moved into town which is better In-N-Out Burgers or Five Guys?
From what I hear 5 Guys is better but for fries, shakes, burger taste and prices. What say you all.
I remember Jack-In-The-Box from the mid 1960’s as the first drive-thru fast food place in the area. The menu/speaker box had a clown-head so it was like you were asking Jack for your order.
This was a big hit with kids and long before the other “Clown” of hamburgers.
Hardees back in the old days were really flame-grilled and delicious. We would walk a few miles from home during summer vacation to eat at Hardees.
When Krystal’s hamburger first showed up you could buy a Krystal burger for .08 cents.
They're the cornerstone of any nutritious breakfast.
That's that Hawaiian burger joint.
No. It was a stopover during hunting trips, twenty years ago.
On my next trip toward the Canadian border, I’ll get pictures. “Good food or healthy food? Good, healthy food.”
NOTHING else comes close.
You mind if I have some of your tasty beverage to wash this down?
Back around 1980 Hardee’s had a chicken sandwich that was to die for. A BIG whole breast that tasted (but probably was not) hand breaded. Hardee’s burgers are pretty good as far as I’m concerned but their chicken sandwich is the same as every other guys.
If you are adventurous, try a Hamburguesa con queso down in Mexico
I always go to one I know, you pick out the meat, they grind it, then cook it over a wood fire with the bun while you wet your appetite with a cold cerveza
Regarding that photo. The term “Dripping with Grease and Love” does come to mind.
Go right ahead.
I O B has a great burger but their fries aren't that great. Someone upthread said to get them "well done". Next time I'm out west I'll order that way. I really like how clean their establishments are and the staff, although most look like high school kids, is very friendly and hard working - I view them as future conservatives!
I hear 5 Guys has a HUGE regular order of fries and that they're very good and even there are a few around here, I have yet to try them.
It's been a while since I've had a Fat Burger but as I recall, they beat I O B for an inexpensive burger - IOM.
That is radically close to what I remember, it looks just like that.
The only difference is that it had a Rib Eye Steak in place of regular hamburger.
Was very memorable, taste lasted me about 2 weeks and can still remember it.
The place refused to put anything on it but onions and all other toppings had to be applied by the customer. The Rib Eye was so hot though, cheese would melt instantly.
“The problem with the fries were they were so thick and the oil so hot, by the time you can eat it, the outside is soggy and the inside will still burn your tongue.”
Yeah, that is true. I tried the “cajun” fries once, and they seem to just dump a bunch of grainy powdered seasoning on the fries after frying. Not a very pleasant texture.
XXX is expensive, but it is an elite, you have to go to a place like that sometimes to put the other guys in perspective.
There is a reason they can charge that much for it.
There were no Hardees around where I was in the 80’s. In fact the old Hardees were not anything like they are currently because there was hardly any seating inside, there were a few outdoor tables and the whole building was mostly kitchen.
I remember another local burger joint in Dallas, it was Griffs and they also used the “clown” motif on the buildings and in advertising.
I guess these guys thought little kids love clowns and that would get them asking mom and dad to go to Griffs or Jack-in the-Box.
I always thought clowns were pretty creepy - what are they hiding under all the make-up, wig and false nose....hmmm?
“The term Dripping with Grease and Love does come to mind.”
Haha, good one. Definitely a messy burger, but worth it. I’ve found the trick is to keep the wrapper halfway on the burger, so you can hold on to that and use it to catch the drippings.
I will go for a Tommy’s burger any day. Closest one is 10 miles away in Fountain Valley.
I made the same mistake, I ended up trying to get the dog to eat them. LOL
Jack in the Box tacos for me.
bump for later
It’s late, I’m hungry.......... out.
