Washington insiders have no idea what goes on out here in the real world. Why should me and my husband be responsible for some other bimbos sex life? Why should we be held fiscally responsible for cleaning up her mistakes? We had nothing to do with her active night life.
Boehner caved. He let the left set the agenda and talking points. The Republicans cowered and ran - again.
Time for a new speaker. This one isn't working for our side. It's all talk - like always.

I believe that makes a total of 88.5 billion in cuts in the 2011 budget.

Not be my reckoning. First it was to be a cut of $100B. That was reduced to a cut of $74B. That was then reduced to $61B. Now we are told it will be $38B.

The spenders whoomped us. The Republicans caved in. The Tea Party is betrayed.

Boehner did a great job.

I guess is depends on the meaning of "great." Boehner and his fellow RINOs began the negotiations by giving away the biggest card they had, i.e., a government shut down. The negotiations went downhill from there. And when the next battles are fought on the 2012 budget and raising the debt ceiling, will shutting down the government be off the table again?

Boehner and the Reps blinked. The votes on Obamacare and Planned Parenthood in the Senate are mere eyewash meant to placate the Rep rabble. And I bet that some Senate Reps dread having to vote on Planned Parenthood. I am fairly sure that some Reps will vote in the affirmative on funding for PP.

After the smoke has cleared, the news stories tell me we got $38.5 billion in cuts. Do the Republicans even know how much in cuts we got?

What is getting obscured is that this wasn't a cut it all -- it's actually nearly $300 billion MORE than 2010.

But people keep talking about the "cut" which is really just a cut in the proposed INCREASE.

It's the same ol', same ol' -- pretending that a cut in an increase is anything but an increase.

Bottom line, the 2011 budget is MORE than we spent in 2010. In real life, that's not a "cut".

I am afraid that it is now a case of every man for himself now. Our supposedly-conservative saviors of the 2010 Tsunami elections certainly have shown themselves to be a pack of ball-less pussies.

Pay off your debts, don't use credit and stock up on staples, protection and stash some liquid assets.....they're gonna be coming for what you have on paper, in electronic accounts, etc. first. Then when all that's gone, door-to-door....

John BooHoo is done. He’s public enemy number 2 next to any democrat. Well, maybe he’s just “number 2”. Either way...done.

Boehner has a nice voice, but he is weak. He really IS Number 2. If they vote for this they will have sold out the Tea Party for money.

You may be right.

Aside from defense, can anyone tell me what useful purpose the Federal government serves?

"Definitely not thrilled, but Ms. Bachmann is correct: This is not the hill to pick to battle over. It's too small an amount; too little a deficit impact; too late in the game.

The problem is that the Republicans are unwilling to pick ANY hill to battle over. They CAVED, pure and simple. If they caved on this, it emboldens the Dems to hold on in the next battle."

The House now needs to vote on this & approve it. Ms Bachmann is saying that she is not happy with this & was expecting a fight to get more cuts & that did not happen.

This agreement could still go down in flames. The House has one week to agree or disagree. It seems that Boehner was not working with ALL the Republicans on this. He was dealing with Reid & Obama & his own party was not aware of what he agreed to. In essence - HE CAVED!

We need to bombard our representatives with our displeasure & they need to vote NO. If they do that - they can re-negotiate this with the same threat of shutting the government down.

Part of this deal must be that the troops ARE PAID if the government shuts down.

If I'm correct & a NO vote can make this deal null & void, do WE have the spine to take this on?? ?

IMHO he should have pushed through the PP defunding at all costs. That should have been the line in the sand. But apparently he caved on that issue and that, my FRiend is the single most important issue for me. You cannot compromise on core principles and if they backed down on this, knowing they had the votes to get it through the house and force the Senate’s hand then I don’t believe they have what it takes to actually do anything to save the Republic. The reason why the democrats are smiling is because they won on the core issue.

The Republicans may have “ won” by forcing a compromise on money, and that might please the Tea Party atheists bit I’m not impressed with Boner’s leadership on this one. He drew the line in the sand and then surrendered the real estate. That is the definition of defeat.

My son-in-law in Afghanistan and my daughter with their family in Germany and my national guard son sent home early last night would disagree that a government shut down would have been a good thing.

The first would have been overseas in a combat zone upaid, and his family in Germany without resources. My son would be missing the pay, points, and training.

The republicans need to remove the troops from these kind of spats. They are unfair collateral damage.

That said, the 40 billion + the value of those other concessions in dollar terms is going to approach or exceed the 61 billion promised.

And, as stated, finally getting an up-down vote on abortion providers is historic. Closing off abortion money in Washington DC is historic. It is far more important than any money issue. It will reveal the soul of the nation.

No babies will be killed with my tax dollars in DC this year. And possibly, nationwide they’ll be protected year.

The FRIGHTENING thing about this vote is that America will be on record in front of God and everybody about whether they want to keep killing babies.

Let those who think they stand take heed lest they fall. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God!

The next budget is the real battle. But there were some important philosophical points to be made here.

If we can’t cut NPR, just what exactly can we cut?

I’ll start the over/under on the first emergency spending bill that pushes the budget back over last year’s spending level at July 15.

The republicans need to remove the troops from these kind of spats. They are unfair collateral damage.

The House did. They passed a CR bill that contained full funding for the military for the rest of the year and sent it to the Senate. The blame falls squarely on the Dems who have no trouble holding the troops hostage to further their political agenda. And as a result, they won.

That said, the 40 billion + the value of those other concessions in dollar terms is going to approach or exceed the 61 billion promised.

You can drink the Kool-aid. Initially, the Young Guns (Cantor, McCarthy, and Ryan) said they wanted a $100 billion cut in the FY-2011. That was changed to $35 billion because it was only half a year left. Responding to pressure from the GOP freshmen and other conservatives, the number was changed to $61 billion. Now we are supposed be happy with $38.5 billion, a little more than what the Young Guns wanted initially. And before we start celebrating, let's see where and how these cuts are made. It could be a lot of smoke and mirrors using accounting gimmicks that result in far less spending cuts than the $38.5 billion. Chump change regardless.

And, as stated, finally getting an up-down vote on abortion providers is historic. Closing off abortion money in Washington DC is historic. It is far more important than any money issue. It will reveal the soul of the nation.

Historic? Tell that to Bart Stupek. And the vote is not about abortion if you mean the vote in the Senate on whether to fund PP or not. It is meaningless and could well result in some Reps voting for it with excuse that they need to continue to have poor women provided medical services to screen for cancer. And the Dems could use the vote against the Reps in 2012. I suspect they would like to get the Reps on the record as well. Finally, will the vote even take place on the issue? You need 60 votes for cloture.

Boehner cried, then caved. I am SO SURPRISED. Not. Good work stabbing your conservative members in the back, sir.

Next step: Vote this turkey down. The throw Boehner out of the Speakership.

The vote on abortion, no matter how handled, will be historic.

Putting it off or voting it down is the same thing. There is no hiding on this one.

As stated about the budget vote, there is no way that the House could have out-voted the Senate + the President. It is not possible.

And the troops are NOT removed from being a pawn in future budget battles, which is the point I was trying (apparently not written very well :>) to make.

The bigger battles are ahead.
