Morris: "I want a cut of $61 billion. I want the Republicans in Congress to keep the campaign commitment to the American people of a $100 billion cut. And I'm shocked at your interview with Congresswoman Bachmann. She was saying, 'Oh, there's going to be a deal, they'll come together, there'll be a compromise'. Well a compromise that is less than $61 is BREAKING THE PROMISE TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. And, above all....

Its going to be business as usual. The GOP is terrified of those two little words: “government shutdown.”
Don’t say I didn’t warn ya!
Morris v. Bachmann? I’ll take Bachmann every time over the toe sucker.
Bachman is a major lightweight who says a lot of stupid things.
Shut it down
Bachmann surprises me with this position. She is way out on her own and is not in step with the Tea Party.
This is disappointing.
As for Morris, there will be no huge cut this time around. They have decided to keep their powder dry for the Paul Ryan blueprint. Probably wise under the circumstances but they better come out hitting hard for next year or they are gonna catch it from the conservatives. Hard.
We are ruled by good cops and bad cops. To conservatives the Republicans are the good cops. They are on the same team with the Bad Cop Democrats. out to do us in. Now if this makes sense to anyone you are as big a Kook as I am.
That’s because the liberals have been flooding John Boehner, Paul Ryans’ Facebook, phone, emails with their opposition.
This budget needs our support and they need to know we do NOT want them to cave.
Yeah Lucy, there's going to be big trouble if you pull the ball away again....but I trust you.
I've been predicting for some time now that a lot of people are going to find themselves very disappointed by Bachman. She has A LOT of skeletons in her closet that heretofore have been ignored. She's saying exactly what people want to hear (with no specifics) and a lot of people are falling for the rhetoric, hook, line and sinker (again). Just because you are mildly attractive and can talk louder than anyone else in the room doesn't mean you have all the answers. It's a sad thing to watch......
All of this Rino balony, for those of you who don’t know how government works, you vote to get the result you want. Republicans should have gotten both Houses, they didn’t. Now they must Govern, it’s called checks and balances. If you don’t like it, then next time vote, but don’t get maniupulated by people who are in it for themselves. This is why elections are so important. No one should have ever messed with the Republicans getting back both houses, I don’t care how much they wanted to be President. Stop with the RINO balony. That’s just propoganda from people who don’t understand the system of check’s and balances and why voting is so important.
Skepticism is justified but we can’t lay down and die, either. We gotta stay in the game and elect new constitutional conservatives to all levels of government. From them new and better leaders will emerge.
That’s the nature of the game. No getting around it.
Bachman lost any support I had for her. She proves tpo me as someone who caves when the going gets tough. Definitely not presidential material.
I just don’t trust Morris anymore (if ever). He’s always trolling for clients or something. He thrives on conflict.
I don’t see why you would dismiss Morris. He is right. The GOP said they would do something. They are not going to do it. This discredits any little faith we put into the GOP. They were elected on the promise to clean up their act and now we are sliding back to the bad old days of Rat compromise.
Morris has been giving the GOP great ideas on how to screw the Rats by bundling Gov’t spending for cuts that no one cares about so that no constituency would be upset i.e; wildflower research in the Artic. He is one of our smarter tacticians. Between Morris and Gingrich as the smart idea men in the GOP, I will take Morris. He has a better track record.
Maybe now some of the posters here will wake up and stop listening to that clown Hannity and Morris.
How the federal government shutdown would affect Chicago
By: Paul Merrion and Lorene Yue April 08, 2011
(Crain’s) Chicago’s largest employer is likely to be taking at least Monday off, but few will likely notice the no-show.
A shutdown of the federal government appears imminent as chances dim for a last-minute extension of funding that by law expires at midnight Friday.
With Republicans and Democrats still far apart on how much to cut, some 800,000 federal workers nationwide will be furloughed, including many of the nearly 50,000 federal workers in the Chicago region, but a short-term shutdown will be barely noticeable to the public and most businesses.
Mail will still be delivered, as the Post Office depends on postage, not appropriations. Social Security checks will still go out, too. Using funds on hand, Argonne National Laboratory and Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory will remain open, worried far more about long-term budget cuts than a short-term shutdown.
Planes will still stream in and out of Chicago’s airports, as air traffic controllers are considered essential personnel who must remain on the job. Customs will clear passengers and cargo as usual, although most support staff will stay home.
The public will not see that, a Customs Bureau spokesman said.
While the closing of Smithsonian museums and attractions such as the Lincoln Memorial at the height of tourist season will produce howls in Washington, D.C., what’s affected in Chicago will be far less visible, annoying only those with non-critical needs for government services.

I say no compromise. Shut it down!
I agree. We all know politicians can be notorious liars but I expected more from Bachmann. But, as the old saying goes, there’s nothing like a national crisis and the necessity to make tough decisions that separates the wheat from the chaff. To put it most kindly, she’s no “profile in courage.”
Prematurely sent! I was going to say, the President is the obstacle here, not the congress! So he must beat bear the blame if he doesn’t comply.
