February 18, 2011 Sarah Palin and former Bush adviser Karl Rove suggested this week Republicans should admit President Obama was born in the United States and move on. Rove, speaking Wednesday on Fox News, went so far as to suggest the Obama camp is trying to keep the "birther" issue going as a distraction. "We need the leaders of our party to say, 'Look, stop falling into the trap of the White House and focus on the real issues,'" he said. Palin, speaking in New York, called claims Obama was born in Kenya or is a secret Muslim "distractions" and "annoying." The former Alaska governor said Thursday Republicans need to focus on the economy. A poll of 400 likely Republican primary voters showed 51 percent believe Obama was not born in the United States. Rep. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., told CNN he is not convinced the poll is an accurate reflection of Republican beliefs, saying most people "accept the reality" that Obama was born in Hawaii. At least two high-profile Republicans refused to back away from the so-called birthers. Rep. Michelle Bachmann of Minnesota and House Speaker John Boehner of Ohio said they accept Obama's birth certificate but would not say those who believe otherwise are wrong. "Well, that's not for me to state, that's for the president to state," Bachmann said when George Stephanopoulos of ABC asked her if Obama is a U.S.-born Christian. The distinct possibility that Obama is NOT a natural born US citizen is NOT a distraction. It is a core principle in our constitution as to who can serve as president. We would do well to pursue it to its conclusion. I think everything about this manchurian candidate should be exposed. No one remembers him in college, no teachers, no students. He flew to Pakistan in 1981 and no US citizen was allowed to fly to Pakistan. WHERE ARE THE INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISTS? WHY IS THIS MAN GETTING OFF SCOTT FREE ON THIS? He must be exposed for the fraud he is and the fraud he is perpetrating on the American people before it’s too late and we have no country left to save.

He conceals his past because it is really what one would expect-Lackluster! He was elected not because of any special virtues he may have; but because Bush had angered the voters and “The Divine One” is a black, which for some weird reason appealed to the imbecilic voter. Well, I agree with Palin and Bachmann in that it is a huge distraction for them. If people want to take on the issue, let them do it. Don’t call on others to fight your battles for you. Palin and Bachmann have other goals and agendas on their plates. If they were to let themselves be drawn into the “birther” issue, no other message they want to get out would be heard. They would be marginalized. Each person has to choose the battles they deem worth fighting.
Her statement was from a little more than a month ago. If she wanted to ‘mainstream it’ she had the opportunity to do so in February when she clearly stated that she had no doubt about Obama’s citizenship.
The bottom-line for many of us that have change our opinion of Sarah is that she has become more ‘political’ over the past couple of years and it makes her look more like any other politician. The fact of the matter is that people like Christie, Walker and to an extent Trump have differentiated themselves by being less politically correct in many ways. They all have warts but they appear more genuine.

IMHO, she made the “distraction” statement while still under the sorry loser spell of the McLame campaign. Since she has stepped forth and is operating in her own right and speaking her own mind, I think she has reevaluated many things that she saw differently as a suddenly-chosen, excessively-programmed and overly-coached VP candidate.
