New evidence has emerged that the Iranian government sees the current unrest in the Middle East as a signal that the Mahdi--or Islamic messiah--is about to appear.
It's called The Coming is Near and it describes current events in the Middle East as a prelude to the arrival of the mythical tweflth Imam or Mahdi -- the messiah figure who Islamic scriptures say will lead the armies of Islam to victory over all non-Muslims in the last days.
The video claims that Iran is destined to rise as a great power in the last days to help defeat America and Israel and usher in the return of the Mahdi. And it makes clear the Iranians believe that time is fast approaching.

I respectfully disagree with you - completely.
The similarities between the man the Bible describes as "the beast" (Antichrist) and what the Muslim scriptures themselves describe as the Mahdi are frightening.
Moreover, I must make a few points very clear.
- I believe in the Bible as true.
- The events described in scripture (specifically the Book of Revelation and Ezekiel Chapters 38/39) must come to pass because God said they will.
Moreover, Christ warned us not to be deceived (Mt 24:4-5), and He also told us to read the signs of the times (Mt 16: 1-3).
If the Book of Revelation is true, and the bible is true, then there will be a time of last days. There will be a totalitarian one world religion, economic system, and legal system. The Antichrist will have as his base of power the Middle East. His armies will attack Israel. The nations that attack Israel can all be identified from scripture and scholarship. Today, all of those nations are Islamic.
Some Biblical scholars interpret some "new" one world religion that may emerge that will be something "else" besides Islam. How exactly is that going to happen? Given the ferocity and spirit of Antichrist we have witnessed in Islam, how does these scholars suddenly imagine them just "moving on?"
Anyone reading the news these day from Egypt, Jordan, Libya, Tunisia, Yemen, etc...and does not see the rise of something dangerous, evil, and volatile is either deluded or a fool.
Muslim Surahs, traditions, and scholarship all point to a figure who parallels the Biblical Antichrist in horrifying detail.

The Antichrist will come someday. I don't do dates - those people are fools and violate scripture by doing so. But, what is happening in the world today is very, very, very scary.
I see three reactions from people:
- Apathy from the foolish and unrepentant (this is the majority of the world)
- Terrible concern from devout Christians, but along with this a greater feeling to draw even closer to Jesus Christ
- Gallows humor by those who know something is going terribly wrong, but their reaction is irrational and shows an unwillingness to confront what they see in front of them.
