It has been a tough couple of days for former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. Her favorability ratings among GOP voters have slipped, a new poll shows, and fellow Republicans are taking pot shots.
A new ABC News/Washington Post poll, released Wednesday, found that Ms. Palins favorability ratings among Republicans and Republican-leaning independents have dropped to a new low. Fifty-eight percent of those voters still view her favorably not exactly shabby, by most standards. But compared with the 88 percent favorable rating she enjoyed right after Sen. John McCain picked her as his running mate in 2008 and even the 70 percent positive rating she enjoyed as recently as October Palin is definitely on a downward slide.
Even more troubling for Palin, especially if she harbors presidential ambitions, is that her negative ratings among Republicans are higher than those for other possible GOP presidential contenders. Thirty-seven percent of Republicans and Republican-leaners see Palin unfavorably, the ABC News survey said. That exceeds former House Speaker Newt Gingrichs unfavorable ratings by 11 percentage points, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romneys by 16 points, and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabees by 19 points.
Support among Republicans is especially crucial for Palin given her standing with the general public. An ABC News/Post poll in December found that 59 percent of all likely voters would not consider voting for her for president.
The results indicate continued challenges for Palin in public opinion, Gary Langer wrote on the ABC News blog The Numbers. Mr. Langer provides public opinion polling and analysis to ABC News.
The poll slippage comes at a time when Palin's fellow conservatives are taking political pot shots at her.

Fellow Conservatives like who..Karl Rove LOL..I don’t buy these “Polls” at all..its pure psychological BS to make people think she doesn’t have a shot at winning
They knew it the first time they saw her.
It's why they go insane every time they think of her.
I swear I see this types of articles come out every couple of months. Didn’t the media pull the same thing after the Arizona shootings?
Aren’t these “smart” republicans the same that tried to push that rino Crist on Florida? Shows how much influence they truly have.
Reports of her demise are greatly exaggerated.
PDS. The ruling elite HATE her because she doesn’t come from a prominent family or have a fancy Ivy League education.
Reagan took “friendly” fire also.
They strike out because they fear her. Doesn’t take a Freud to figure that one out. I find it all very, very telling.
The republicans better stop eating their own or the commie in chief will have another 4 years. AND THAT WILL BE THE END OF AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds like Romney supporters have joined forces with Obama supporters. They are terrified of Palin.
I’ve taken heat on this site for expressing doubts about her ability to win the 2012 election, because the media realized she was a threat to The One and absolutely poisoned the well for her back in 2008.
However, this article is a classic example of how much the left FEARS her. I love how she drives the Left nuts.
I’d rather she go in with low expectations anyway.
I will only vote for Sarah Palin. If Romney or any other RINO, or anyone else is nominated, I WILL NOT VOTE! Enough of the GOP and the RINOs. I sent them there to do ONE THING! STOP the SPENDING! Period. The House is pulling a replay of the 90’s. The Senate is the biggest bunch of morons ever to have existed! ENOUGH!!!!!! No CUTTING, NO VOTE!
Where’s pissant?
I just wish she’d come back and be Gov again; it has really went down hill since her departure. Palin really did good things overall here in Alaska. It’s bizarre to remember people thinking Obama being more experienced????????
This active-passive war has been going on since the 50’s and the same folks that have cratered our economy today are the same folks who set up the means to do that in 1913 via the Federal Reserve - the international bankers, aka the “new world order”.
'nuff read.
We went shopping in a liberal town (Norman, OK), which just a couple years ago bristled with Obama bumper stickers. Today, we saw several conservative stickers for local pols, plus one big “Palin/Beck 2012” sticker. She’s at least popular with some of us!
I go by one simple fact, every single event she has done or will be doing now and in the near future is SOLD OUT..word gets out that she will be speaking at an event BOOM its sold out in days..tell me anyone else that has that ability with so-called bad poll numbers. All the left is doing is psychological warfare, trying to convince people she can’t win by bogus poll results..they are getting these poll numbers out of their asses..completely made up..they know she can win if she got the nomination.
