They’ll probably not care. I got my detection stuff, will do my best to read it and act. As anyone with a sane IQ might.

False info being sent from twitter and facebook. Trust the media. LOL! and press conferences. And don’t be influenced by twits.

The No. 1 Reactor disappeared. It is definitely an explosion. Fukushima is about 165 Miles NorthWest of Tokyo.

The first structure on the left is now gone?

That is right. Only steel beam structure left. The explosion could have blown the walls away from the internal vessel, but it was a very large explosion. They have to assume containment breached.

“Transformers or other equipment related to the transmission of the electricity that they produce”

Well, there’s no power at the plants - it went out as well as the generators they had. Hence, no cooling for the core to prevent meltdown. I think they (Japanese experts and authorities) know how really bad and dangerous it is, but don’t want to say.

Major fail for the American news media in this crisis.

This crisis, Egypt and Libya.

I had to resort to Al Zaheera(sp) for Egypt. The best 24/7 footage. Unfortunately, I had to cover the ears to their propaganda.

No way American media will gain the biggest global audience going reruns after midnight.

The press conference is on now- all in Japanese for now- there’s a newsreader who was speaking English earlier- she showed before/after pictures of the blast at the site.

You want to keep contamination off your skin. Going naked while outside is not wise.

They also advise not drinking water or eating produce now.

Not likely to circle globe. Effluent path is earthbound and sometimes has trouble making around tall buildings, let alone the stratosphere. We are not talking nuclear bombs here, folks. This is a boiling pot of water that sprang a leak. It’s a big deal, but global impact is doubtful in the extreme.

No doubt a large release of radiation during the explosion will hamper further efforts to get control of this.

That link above your post says the gulf stream could have the radiation here to the West Coast beginning in 36 hours - yikes!

They must mean the Jet Stream. Gulf Stream on east coast US.

I think they just stopped the news - he shifted and he repeating what he is told. Now ‘listen to the media only’.

that’s actually not a bad idea and in all seriousness, we may really need it here in the farmlands of California - I’m cardboarding my garden first thing in the morning. I think we should have 24 hours or so before the winds hit us. Rain is forecast first of the week.

For all the hysterics about Chernobyl, it has become one of the great wildlife preserves in the worlds. Many of the elderly never left and continue to live there.. and no, they didn’t sprout a second head or such other nonsense.

“I can’t help but think of how this is going to impact the modern world.”

Japan is considered to be part of the modern world. They have a pretty large stock exchange. Ours is being bought by the Germans.
