They are monitoring the radiation level. Now they are saying the radiation is under the level?

Prime Minister, expert, will discuss the further plan.

Stay calm. And we will ‘try’ to update you as much as possible.

If the wind keeps NW, most of the radiation would disperse into the sea.

Well, at least now we all know that a light water reactor can go Chernobyl.....

I'm reading that this reactor is of an older "boiling water" design. Facts (and myths) are still shaking out about this, all over the place.

Wish Fox would break away from their rerun of Red Eye to give us this news.

That's gonna be the death of Fox. Going taped after midnight is so old fashion.

Whole country? Not likely. These things following predictable patterns of disbursal and deposition. If there is a major effluent release, the plume will track a reatiely narrow line over land following wind direction. Particulates that end up in the ocean will become so diffuse as to be non-existent. Gamma would all be local and temporary. Too soon to write off Japan. This is not the movies, and no one in the industry can watch “China Syndrome” with a straight face. Don’t work that way.

American “news” barely exists beyond on line news readers. The effect of constant money aving mergers and layoffs.

To their credit, ABC News broke in with a short report from Amanpour. That’s why I heard this is not good, those near plant told to evacuate, I think Japan Prime Minister planning a news conference.

Someone was talking about that earlier, there’s so much chaos, road damage etc, that they can’t get enough busses etc to evacuate enough people...

Talking about a second calamity - because of impending aftershock/tsunami. Shortage of power - some areas no power - power line cut - all should consume electricity.

“Major fail for the American news media in this crisis.”

No kidding. The 5th largest recorded EQ in history sets off a tsunami which wipes out the NE coast of Japan (which I will be shocked if we don’t see a 5-7 figure death toll from that event alone) and what looks to be a nuclear plant meltdown in process and the MSM here in the US is asleep at the wheel.
