Tokyo Electric Power Co. (9501.TO) said Saturday that the temperatures of its No.1 and No.2 reactors at its Fukushima Daini nuclear power station are rising, and it has lost control over pressure in the reactors.
Fukushima Daini station is the second nuclear power plant the company has in Fukushima prefecture in northeastern Japan, where the troubled Fukushima Daiichi plant is located.

I don't believe that part to be technically accurate. Otherwise, I generally agree.
It's been the fear of nukes that won't let us build MODERN plants of new design and multiple levels of containment.
They did say this quake has caused a shift - The Recent one in Chile did also - as have others recently. Orlando's Airport, fr one, just had to reconfigure their GPS co ordinances for their runways so's planes coming in on instruments didn't land on the grass BESIDE the runway.
Looks like it's time for some more configuration.
Coal plants emit more radioactivity into the environment than nuclear plants.
Ready to do without them?
Dude. I'm a hippie and an environmentalist.
But, I'm not a whacko Greepeacer like the commie watermelons.
You know, green on the outside, read on the inside.
That said, I'm a big believer in nukes.
'HOURS' TO PREVENT NUKE MELTDOWN
Folks, I'm not going to say it's going to happen.
I AM going to say that the quantity of material at risk here is far greater than Chernobyl.
The basic science and engineering principles of nuclear power have been taught in high schools for decades now. The technology is proven all over the world with over 500 reactors in applications on land, above and below the sea, even in space.
2012 will be the 70th anniversary of the first artificial reactor and your still playing the part of the handwringing luddite.
“No cause for concern. Hillary Clinton ordered some more coolant delivered to save the situation.
I read the AP report with my own eyes.”
Indeed. Only two problems with Hillary’s “plans”.
1. Hillary’s very important coolant is known to the rest of the world as “water”, which I believe, if not mistaken, they’ve got a tiny bit too much of right now anyway.
2. There was no “delivery” of “coolant” in the works anyway.
Bottom line is that Hillary Clinton is clueless idiot, a complete ignoramus, and has absolutely no idea in the world about what she is talking about. But then again, one could correctly say exactly the same thing about Obama and everyone he’s appointed to his administration. EVERYONE!
Why are there never any questions about coal fired plants when coal mine accidents happen?
Why are there never any questions about coal fired plants when coal miners die of black lung?
Why are there never any questions about coal fired plants when people with weak respiratory systems die a bit sooner than normal? Because they have ingested small amounts of coal soot over a many year period?
etc, etc,,,
“Dont be so pessimistic. The original GE designers and engineers who made those MARK-n designs were very smart and very cautious. They really over-engineered. We shall all see that in in a situation at the extrema of worst-case (shot of a direct hit by a nuke bomb) the still fail-safe, nearly safe.”
That may be the case, but why in the world did Japanese planners allow nuke plants to be built within tsunami reach? Couldn’t they have at least sited the damn things 20 miles inland?
WHY can’t they simpy pull out the fuel rods???? Such a DUMB question about)the reaction.
You have access to very cheap cooling. The Pacific Ocean. The Californian Nuclear Plants that I have seen were both located along the Pacific coastline.
China Syndrome....maybe we’ll find radiation in the noodles and dog food we buy from the Chinese ....really soon.
“You have access to very cheap cooling. The Pacific Ocean. The Californian Nuclear Plants that I have seen were both located along the Pacific coastline. “
Well no doubt. But Japan has a several thousand year history of earthquakes and tsunamis. Guess cheap cooling was more important than history and prudence.
“WHY cant they simpy pull out the fuel rods???? Such a DUMB question about)the reaction.”
You may be wondering, “Why can’t they just drop the control rods in the reactor if it starts to get out of control?”. The answer is that they can. The problem is that, even if the control rods are completely dropped in and the nuclear chain reaction stops, the reactor is still extremely hot and will not cool down unless coolant is put back in. The residual heat and the heat produced from the decay of the fission products are enough to drive the core’s temperature up even if the nuclear chain reaction stops.
Yeah I wonder what the GW/CC Fraudsters excuse is for this little development?
Some cow flatulence in Tx I guess.
Yeah, well, if they don't pump in some cold water very soon by this time tomorrow you'll be reading about one of the world's great disasters.
Bad news. A BBC tweet and the Huff Post just stated that Japanese sources claim a nuclear meltdown might be occurring right now at a reactor.
