MIAMI (AP) -- President Barack Obama says that a slight dip in the unemployment rate to 8.9 percent is a sign of continued progress but that keeping that momentum going is important to the economic recovery.

The government reported Friday that February's jobless rate had fallen to a two-year low, down from 9 percent in January.

The sole purpose of the Republican Party is to serve as an ineffective alternative to the Democrat Party.

ROFL!

Absolutely, pathetically true.

I think that the numbers are certainly doctored. The numbers from other organizations are as high as 10.3% unemployment and 30% less new jobs being posted.

His idea of progress and mine are different.
I think America being reliant on herself alone is progress whereas he does not.

“Unemployment is about 17 per cent.”

BUMP to that! Of course, the numbers show that it HAS fallen a little, but Fer Pete’s Sake! It’s because all the people that no longer HAVE jobs have faded into the woodwork! Grrrr!

Figures lie while liars figure!!

This can not be hidden for very long. Every graduating class adds to the real number of unemployed. I retired this
past December, but I know that no one will replace me.
Husband was unemployeed until he turned 62 and went to
social security. I know two others myself who will turn
62 this year and will no longer be counted as unemployed,
but they will not have found a job. I also know half a
dozen young people who can not find any work.

Reagan faced unemployment of nearly 11%. It was 10.8%. At this point in his recovery, 20 months, he'd lowered it by 3.3% to just 7.5%.

Obama's has a pathetic 0.5% improvement in 20 months of "recovery" with trillions of "stimulus" all to reach this very massaged 8.9% number.

"Progress," Mr. Obama?

No kidding! We need 600,000 new jobs EVERY MONTH from here on out to even HOPE to get us back to 5% unemployment, which they tout as ‘full’ employment.

I just laugh. And then cry. The Media is just re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. And to what end?

They move in with relatives, cut costs even more, sell off personal property, raid their savings to make ends meet... they retreat and regroup.

It's not a "psychological descriptive guess" to say some stopped looking for work in futility and why. The reason, "current economic conditions make them believe that no work is available for them," isn't data they can't obtain.
