The author was an IDF officer in a combat unit.
In this article I'll teach you a simple technique that will allow you to shoot your handgun accurately. We'll start with the steps you need to take, I'll explain what happens when you fire a handgun and how it affects you, and then I'll give you a few simple tips to reinforce your new shooting technique. If you follow my steps and tips, and invest a few hours working on this technique at home, you'll be able to shoot your handgun much more accurately. In fact, if you practice for as little as a week, you'll even surprise yourself with much improved accuracy!
The technique comprises of four simple steps: You get into a proper stance, you grip your handgun efficiently, while acquiring a decent sight picture, and then applying your full attention on trigger control. Combine these simple steps with discipline to practice, and basic understanding of what happens when you fire a handgun, and you'll be shooting like a pro in no time.
Let's look at what happens when you fire a handgun. It's important to understand because the forces you unleash affect your ability to shoot well. When you pull the trigger and fire your handgun, you initiate a small, controlled explosion. That in turn generates pressure which propels your bullet, through your handguns' barrel toward the target. The explosion and subsequent travel of the bullet through the barrels' rifling, generates noise, recoil and a twisting motion. Our technique takes this into account, and teaches you how to manage this process with professional ease.

"If the noise bothers you, get better hearing protection,"
Nowhere does the author advise shooting without hearing protection.
Actually, I don’t need to shoot more accurately. My brothers do though. I kick their @sses every time at the range. I’ll forward it to them.
I’ve been shooting handguns for 25 years. Lots of reading, lots of practice. Even with all that, I learned some valuable things in this piece that I will practice.
GREAT post!!!
is it okay to dry fire a handgun hundreds of times as he suggests??
I worked on a Kibbutz 40 years ago and was recently in Israel and had a friend over here last week. If you listen to the Israelis you would think they invented shooting, the F-15, Abrams M1, the AK-47, the AR15, holo sights, Red Dot sights, etc. and etc.
Mainly, like the Japanese, they take and existing platform and “improve”/specialize it for desert use.
It reminds me of the Russians during the cold war when they said they were the first to invent everything. Now this guy is going to claim you stole his idea 20 years before he invented.
Snap caps (Here, here for example) are your friend. Some manufacturers warn against dry firing on an empty chamber. Snap caps are cheap, broken pistols are expensive.
Thank you. The kudos belong to the author, Dan S. Defense!
BUMP!
You go, grandma!
It will be just fine if you use a " snap cap"
Say what? I think you may have misread.

How is your comprehension of English ?
I.e., if the hearing protection you're wearing isn't doing the job for you, and you're still being bothered/distracted by the amount of noise getting through, then get better hearing protection.
Pretty simple.
And how are you going to be "criminally liable" to yourself? lol
