UW Health is investigating doctors who wrote medical notes last weekend excusing protesters at the Capitol from work, and the Wisconsin Medical Society has criticized their actions.
These UW Health physicians were acting on their own and without the knowledge or approval of UW Health, UW Health said in a statement. These charges are very serious.
The UW School of Medicine and Public Health and the UW Medical Foundation, the universitys doctor group, are investigating.
The investigation will identify which UW Health physicians were involved and whether their behavior constituted violations of medical ethics or University of Wisconsin and UW Health policies and work rules, the statement said.
The investigation and any potential future action will follow the established procedures of the University of Wisconsin. Any future disciplinary action taken will be considered a personnel matter, and in accord with University of Wisconsin policies, will not be open to public discussion.
The Wisconsin Medical Society, the states doctor group, said in a statement that it does not condone these actions under any circumstances.
The physician-patient relationship is a cornerstone for providing high quality health care, the medical society said. Important elements of that relationship, such as conducting proper medical evaluations of patients, should not be taken lightly.
The Wisconsin Medical Examining Board has received information about the events, the medical society said.
Dr. Lou Sanner, a family medicine physician at UW Health, told the Associated Press he was one of the doctors involved. He said wrote notes for protesters who were suffering from stress.
Some people think its a nod-and-wink thing, but its not, he told the Associated Press.
These "doctors" thought they'd be able to do this out of the public eye. They were wrong. Now that they've been identified, and all on the faculty one school of medicine, that institution's national reputation is at stake. I can say schools of higher learning tend to act for self-preservation.
I don't know ... this is serious business that goes well beyond writing work excuses for patients who aren't sick. If a physician can fake a diagnosis with impunity and can hide behind the privacy laws, it opens up medical practice to unlimited insurance fraud.
A Brett Healy of the Maciver Institue was interviewed by Stuart Varney about an hour and a half ago. He said this is a serious investigation, hundreds - maybe thousands - of these notes were written, people are just outraged, thousands of calls and emails have come in, their server crashed, etc.. At the moment, it doesn’t look like it’s going to be swept under the rug.
If true, that means that have officially been diagnosed with a mental illness and should have to undergo a detailed mental examination to ensure they are not a threat to themselves and others and that they can perform their duties as teacher.
0 will see that they get more medicare money, more benefits.
me too OIF 3 Tikrit...(no not at FOB Speicher either)
I have to say I agree with everything you said about liberals. Etc. I was in a Blackhawk unit at Balad for 13 months.
The university is investigating those faculty, they've been repudiated by a professional organization, and at least one school district put out a statement they are aware of the "sick notes" and will investigate the "sick" teachers as well.
DAYLIGHT has hit hard. Unfortunately, they are saying these are "personnel matters" so nothing will be made public meaning it may all be swept under the rug.
They should IF it's FRAUDULENT!
Hopefully these idiot LIB doctors will need a Dr’s note soon because they are suffering from stress from having their licenses to practice yanked. Such imbecilic poltroons!
Yup....crazy liberals. I lived in Wisconsin for 11 years and it’s amazing the stuff that went on in Madison
Maybe because the University of Wisconsin is doing the investigation....
Thats exactly the outcome I expect too from a socialist infested University.
Ping - to post 22

Yes, welcome to the stonewalling which would fuel Obama’s Deathcare. Politics meet medicine.Medicine folds.
These lame dick leftist doctors deserve copious mentholated hot oil enemas administerd by the Amish.
Take away their licenses. Ban them from working in Wisconsin.
Don’t lecture us, lecture them.
They bring this on themselves. If they are so wonderful then WHY DON’T THEY FORCE OUT THE BAD APPLES?
Teachers, doctors and lawyers know who are the bad ones but are to COWARDLY to do anything about them. In that case, a pox on all of them.
STAND UP!
Nationally and locally in Madison, this story/documentation must be kept alive to keep the socialists in charge of the medschool/university and hospitals from burying what happened.
“LOL, after 13 months in Iraq, I could tell these teachers a little bit about stress :-)”
Thanks for your service and time.
It is amazing how real stress like your time in Iraq puts most other so called stress in our lives into a true perspective.
