LONDON, Feb 21 (Reuters) - Libyan warplanes were bombing indiscriminately across Tripoli on Monday, a resident of the Libyan capital told al Jazeera television in a live broadcast. "What we are witnessing today is unimaginable. Warplanes and helicopters are indiscriminately bombing one area after another. There are many, many dead," Adel Mohamed Saleh said. Saleh, who called himself a political activist, said the bombings had initially targeted a funeral procession. "Our people are dying. It is the policy of scorched earth," he said.

Just checked the great-circle route between Tripoli and Caracas, and it covers lots of international airspace over open ocean in the Mid-Atlantic. Now if we had a carrier nearby, maybe a diversion could be arranged and Qadaffy could take up residence in Noriega’s old cell for awhile.

Just to make sure that I understand you...obama broke his neck to get to a microphone to tell our ally Mubarek ( he may have been a s.o.b. but he was OUR s.o.b. as they say)to step down IMMEDIATELY but he can’t seem to find his voice as one of the most brutal and criminally evil dictators in the region is bombing his own citizens? You mean that obama can’t even say pretty please...stop using helicopter gun ships to kill civilians? Is that what you’re saying?
I’m saying the US has invested a lot of money in the region and doesn’t want to make any hasty decisions, collateral damage not withstanding...
In other news, US oil reserves untapped or further explored continue that way.
