MADISON, Wis. Wisconsin's senate majority leader says the chamber will convene to pass non-spending bills and act on appointments Tuesday even if minority Democrats remain out of state.
Republican Sen. Scott Fitzgerald told The Associated Press on Sunday that he would be reviewing which bills and appointees to schedule for action. He says senators can't wait around "twiddling their thumbs" until the Democrats return.
Fourteen Democrats fled to Illinois last week to delay action on a budget bill that would effectively eliminate collective bargaining rights for most public employees. Republicans need 20 of 33 members to have a quorum to pass any spending bill but only a simple majority of 17 for other items.
Senate Minority Leader Mark Miller says Democrats will not return until Gov. Scott Walker is ready to compromise on his labor proposal.
THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information.

It would be to their benefit.
They must think out of the box and break this
demorat tactic HARD.
Now is a great time to pass a bill requiring proof of eligibility to get on the ballot as a presidential candidate.
I keep sending them links, LOL! :)
Unless they somehow got leaves of absence, the RAT senators are violating several of the Wisconsin Senate rules. I couldn’t find anything about penalties, though. If this was the private sector, they would be considered to have abandoned their jobs after 3 days.
They need to get about the business of the State. There are lots of other things that need to get done and when democrats whine about it later...
They are the one’s that walked out on their constituents.
they should pass constitutional carry laws like we have in AZ. that would be a big FU to the dems
In Order
1. Voter ID
2. Right to Work
3. Concealed Carry
4. Immigration
5. Eligibility
Eligibility in this State won’t matter (ignoring that is should matter) if the voter rolls are legit.
“...Democrats will not return until Gov. Scott Walker is ready to compromise on his labor proposal.”
So, what will Dem’s do when 11,000 folks get laid off, due to their tantrum?
I don’t see any NEED for compromise here, as it will only encourage the brats!
> some of us are going to be surprised by a disagreeable
> outcome.
Yes, as well as proof of residency and US citizenship for voters, and a law providing felony jail terms for voting more than once, or in more than one location, in the same election.
I sort of chuckled when I saw them interviewing a woman...she said she would gladly pay more to have XYZ....
I thought to myself, isn’t that exactly what you are being asked to do?
The GOP should pass School Vouchers to counter the teacher sick out.
What happens if nobody calls for a quorum and all votes are by voice vote?
1) Photo ID to vote
2) Open carry for licensed gun owners
3) Proof of eligibility for all presidential candidates beginning in 2012.
Looks like they might be reading FR? >>>>>
They know Senate rules better than any Freeper! If they didn’t then they did a quick study over the weekend. They can and will pass non-spending bills and make Democrat heads explode
Cull out the collective bargaining portion of the current budget bill and vote on it as a stand-alone non-budget bill.
Fixed it for you.
4) Right to Work legislation
5) Personhood Amendment (is that possible, with only a simple majority?)
CHECKMATE!! ....... Wisconsin has three months to pass a spending bill. No hurry. Let the Donks stay AWOL while non-spending bills get passed
