MADISON, Wis. Wisconsin's senate majority leader says the chamber will convene to pass non-spending bills and act on appointments Tuesday even if minority Democrats remain out of state.
Republican Sen. Scott Fitzgerald told The Associated Press on Sunday that he would be reviewing which bills and appointees to schedule for action. He says senators can't wait around "twiddling their thumbs" until the Democrats return.
Fourteen Democrats fled to Illinois last week to delay action on a budget bill that would effectively eliminate collective bargaining rights for most public employees. Republicans need 20 of 33 members to have a quorum to pass any spending bill but only a simple majority of 17 for other items.
Senate Minority Leader Mark Miller says Democrats will not return until Gov. Scott Walker is ready to compromise on his labor proposal.

I think the DIMs/LIBs have overplayed their hand. We must not relent so that they can feign ignorance and reinsert them selves into the public’s graces. Push these anti-American, anti-American, anti-freedom creeps until they can’t see straight. No quarter for these commie destroyers. Make them regret they hate so much. Destroying communism isn’t pretty...but it must be done. God Bless America
Why wouldnt they be able to do this even if the Democrats were there? The Republicans are the majority. Does Wisconsin have filibusters? The Dems knew they couldn't win this vote, so they are stalling the only way they can: by preventing a vote from taking place.
They are hoping that the angry mob will override the will of the people and the legal actions of the Senate.
I read the article and read the comments. Wow! What is their obsession with the Koch Brothers? Who are the Koch Brothers anyway?
Rockford. I live south of Rockford, and West of DeKalb. They were in Rockford Thursday at the Best Western, but left there after being discovered. At least one showed up in DeKalb at the campus of NIU. Others may still be in Rockford in hiding.
We’re already open carry here. Perhaps you meant concealed carry? Wisc doesn’t have that yet, but we’ll get it. The sooner the better.
Open Carry is a RIGHT not a state “by your leave”!
If that’s the case, Walker should arrest only the out of Staters for trespassing and send the others back to their dorms at UW.
>> Presidential material for 2020????? <<
Nope. For 2012!
Exactly. State employee contracts end mid-March. Union rules regarding layoffs and contracting out work will be gone.
Fox News showed a video from someone who belongs to the Rockford Tea Party interviewing two of the Dem representatives that were held up there.
And what is REALLY amazing to me? The Media is actually COVERING those FACTS!
(Union intimidation, closing the schools, fake medical excuses, runaway Senators, etc.)
Declare the empty seats vacant and call special elections.
It might be a good time to look at State departments that are just arms of the left. The WI equivalent of HHS, EPA, NEA etc and just eliminate them.
The Wisconsin senators are republicans, not necessarily conservatives. Voting against rinos without democrats is always easier. It will not be as easy for them to compromise, make deals, or reach across the isle.
Also, voting will take much less time because the democrats will not be there to squeal like pigs while debating bills. This also gives them political cover to vote for whatever they want because it is already a circus.
Also, I am not sure if they will need a majority of just those present or a majority of the total. 10 out of 19 is a lot easier than 17 out of 19 to pass a bill.
Perfect.

So sorry to hear of your brother’s passing. Our prayers are with you.
And people receiving welfare can not own pets. Pets are a luxury.
Good one! Drug testing for those living off the taxpayer. Seems like a reasonable request.
Don’t be - that was worth repeating.
