[Madison, WI] As tens of thousands of public employees skipped work this week to attend protest rallies outside the Wisconsin State Capitol, many wondered if they would face any disciplinary action for unexcused absences.
On Saturday, a group of men and women in lab coats purporting to be doctors were handing out medical excuse notes, without examining the patients.
I asked this doctor what he was doing and he told me they were handing out excuses to people who were feeling sick due to emotional, mental or financial distress, said Christian Hartsock. They never performed an examhe asked me how I was feeling today and I said Im from California and Im not used to the cold, so he handed me a note.
Another woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said they were handing out excuses like they were leaflets.
I asked if they were handing out doctors excuses and a guy said yes and asked me if I needed one, she said. When I told them I needed one for February 16 and 17th, he wondered if I wanted to come back here for the protests next week.
What happened next?
I said, sure, and I received a doctors note for the 16th through the 25th of February, without a medical exam.
The notes read
Feb 19, 2011

To Whom it May Concern:
This is confirm I have seen and evaluated the above named patient.
Please excuse from work/school due to a medical condition from

Based on an examination of the signature and medical license number provided, one of the men handing out these notes was purporting to be James H Shropshire MD, a Clinical Associate Professor at the University Wisconsin Madison.
At this time, MacIver News Service is attempting to contact Dr. Shropshire to see if indeed he was the one handing out the notes on the Capitol Square.

Doctors from numerous hospitals set up a station near the Capitol to provide notes to explain public employees' absences from work. Family physician Lou Sanner, 59, of Madison, said he had given out hundreds of notes. Many of the people he spoke with seemed to be suffering from stress, he said.
"What employers have a right to know is if the patient was assessed by a duly licensed physician about time off of work," Sanner said. "Employers don't have a right to know the nature of that conversation or the nature of that illness. So it's as valid as every other work note that I've written for the last 30 years."
Wow, what a story. Also, what a moron!
I’m glad they nailed her butt.
She and her sister sound like affirmative action “professionals.” The one lost her medical license and the other is an attorney but is teaching in the NYC schools.
Oh my, the video's of the libs are just breathtaking, especially the one of the “doctor” handing out fake sick notes.
Don't they teach ethics in med school? If they do he obviously failed the class.
Just like any leftist.
They are leftists before they are [black, white, American, clergy, military, medical, educators, Catholic, Jewish, poor, wealthy, FILL IN YOUR CATEGORY HERE]
Disgraceful.
That gap between the teeth will be a little hard to hide!
LOL...everything liberals DO is affected by the Interstate Commerce Act!
The Swiss Army Knife of Constitution Shredders everywhere! (’ll use THAT as a tagline for a few days!)
Code of Medical Ethics Opinion 9.132 - Health Care Fraud and Abuse
2) Physicians should make no intentional misrepresentations to increase the level of payment they receive or to secure non-covered health benefits for their patients. (II)
Be interesting to see if the AMA has the guts to address this.
Good roundup on Pundit Press, Qbert. Those doctors will have lots of explaining to do this next week. The teachers won’t even be able to use these notes on Tuesday, or whenever they decide to return, for fear of being caught up in fraud. lol on them.
Then maybe the Republicans in Wisconsin need to hold an investigation into this.
Here’s the names of at least 3 of the doctors who were there passing out notes:
Dr. James H. Shropshire
Dr. Hannah M. Keevil
Dr. Bernard F. Micke
All 3 of these doctors work for UW-Madison Health - Call (608) 274-1100......... and ask to speak to the Administrator to make a formal complaint
According to US Congress' standards on interstate commerce: Giving away free physicians medical excuses will affect physicians in other states where some of the protesters were bused in from.
;)
There is a audiologist at Fort Campbell, KY Blanchfield Army Community Hospital (BACH) whose name is Kara Bean. (Carabbean)
Perhaps these are some of the same “docs” who came to the people’s Whitehouse a year or so ago, in borrowed lab coats, showing their support for Obama/Pelosi healthcare...
no doubt
What could get interesting is if the school districts check for medical billings related to these excuses.
If the are billings, that would be insurance fraud; and if there are no billings, the teachers would be committing fraud against their employers.
Thanks Qbert. BTW, that’s a great link so I’m bookmarking it. After I wrote that I took a bigger lens than my glasses to it and the second number might be a 3 not a 7 afterall. I’ve been reading on most blogs that the number of docs scored 3-4 but from this blog he says there were more than a dozen. I hope we got them all.
Did you read about this guy...the MD didn’t say so at the site but if he wrote prescriptions one would think he’d be in big trouble. He also loves sewing, cooking....and creative writing - one might wonder if he writes for the dailykos...:)

I went to the state of Wisconsin credential website and found:
33734-20 Medicine and Surgery KEEVIL, HANNAH M MADISON, WI 09/24/1992 10/31/2011
Interesting.
Speak of the devil...there’s a new update about this guy and in-depth detail about some of the other legal and ethical problems the doctors may be facing:
“...there are some potential problems for the university and the department. Patrick McKenna is identified on the UW DFM staff and directory page as a PGY 3. This is a resident in his 3 and final year of post graduate training and as such cannot operate independently as the Department of Medical Education is responsible for his actions. Furthermore, the ACGME is the governing body that credentials hospitals and medical centers to provide post grad training and would likely take a very jaundiced view of this. You may be unaware, but over the past several years there has been a significant increase in the regulations and requirements required of the Med Ed department...”

Thanks Qbert. I scanned it quickly but will call back later. Someone mentioned Medicaid Insurance, something I mentioned in a post on Sweetness & Light last night (under Petra)as this would have put them in huge trouble, but when I checked out the insurance it was Aetna etc., though I’m thinking as I’m writing this perhaps it’s Aetna-Medicaid, or Blue Cross-Medicaid, or even worse, Aetna-Medicare, or Blue Cross-Medicare...if the latter is the case then it’s Federal which under normal circumstances is big-time jail but with the mafiosi Obama we’re lawless.
And I wonder how legal it is for MD’s to more or less wear a board on their back proselytizing for patients...there are lots of angles but bottom-line it doesn’t look good despite the appearance of the whole country being dictated by Obama, there’s still justice being served and it must happen. Madison is ground zero for the Unions and the Obama et all know it. Anyway I remain very interested on how it all comes down.
Thanks again. :)
