Is the GOP establishment paying attention? The tide has turned and we need to drastically cut government. The Constitution gives us limited government. Let's get back to it.
Greece arrived in America allot sooner than many expected.
This War is all about the special interests of society going to the streets to claim their piece of the pie and they don’t care one bit if theres any left for the other things the country needs.
The Unions would ruin this country if they had the chance.
To ask the question is to misunderstand the problems.
The fear driven union assault is organized and politically motivated
The fear driven food riots if they come will break out spontaneously and will be anarchy
Also Governor Walker can be considered a new folk hero.
No- the protests are all bankrolled by unions. As soon as right-to-work becomes the law there the money and protests will stop.
Yes it will - eventually. America must encourage internal wealth production, and the only way to do that is to remove the penalties for producing wealth.
So: cut taxes and regulation. And more immediately: cut spending, cut agencies and sell assets. Sell some Federal Land.
No no no. Don’t compare government spending to spending like a drunken sailor. Who was it that said ~ ‘At least a drunken sailor is only spending his own money!’

From what I’ve heard, the increased pension and health insurance contributions are relatively small potatoes compared to the thing that has the teachers, as a union, in an uproar — namely, the proposed weakening of their collective bargaining power (limited to wage negotiations only...imagine that). This essay seems to have missed the bigger story.
The chart shows the milestone reached during the JFK administration in the early 1960s: the first $100 billion budget. From $100 billion to $3,600 billion in fifty years, a 36 fold increase in federal spending.
they’ll look for every reason to do so.
“Are The Wild Teacher Protests In Wisconsin A Prelude To The Economic Riots That Are Coming To America?”
The answer to that question is VERY EASY. If the ‘teachers’ in Wisconsin are put in their place, by whatever means is necessary, then the ‘teachers’ will start to understand the futility of protesting and accept the fact that they have to start acting like AMERICANS (for the first time in their lives, in most cases).
If the ‘teachers’ actually get the state to back off, it will get UGLY, VERY UGLY, as future protests will become even worse, with the ‘teachers’ actually being able to see victory by these means.
No question, IMHO; revolutionary ground practice in the making. We have only to wait before the ‘mob rule’ shows up in DC to show the world how change really happens.
I believe that they are.
For anyone who watched the video in the article - this is what law makers have been faced with over the past several decades any time they have tried to stem the tide of public union entitlements. Scott Walker knew he was opening the gates of Hell with his proposed reforms and I applaud him for having the courage to do so.
When the Tea Parties went to Madison over the past couple of years, the public union mobs were extremely ugly.
It’s time to stop funding our own demise through the collection of the union dues of these highly organized thugs. While the majority of public workers are not like this, the militant arm of the unions is.
We, as a nation (perhaps as a world) at the high tide mark of socialism.
Socialism does not work simply because there is not enough wealth in the world to sustain it. In fact, socialism interferes with the creation of wealth by taking away individuals incentive to do what it takes to get ahead.
The most powerful nation in the world is broke and is borrowing money from its enemy (and if anyone does not think China is our enemy they have not been paying attention.)
The unions, the Democrats, the Main Stream Media, Hollywood, College professors can all scream about the need to cut back, but it will not stop cuts from being made (either now or later) no more than King Canute could stop the tide.
I do not know what is going to happen, I do however know things can not continue as they are.
Things are going to get bad before they get better. Even if the Republicans are willing to give in to the demands of the left, all that does is kick the can down the road, it does not solve the problem, it makes it worse.
Unions grow because of the greed of management, unions will be destroyed because of the greed of labor.
Yes, yes and yes.
This conflict isn’t just economic; it’s systemic and ideological, the inevitable collision between the private sector and the public trough-feeders. And yes, it’s going to get worse. But the time has come to man the barricades. If the socialists back down these reforms, I don’t believe we can halt the slide into oblivion.
Denial is not only a river running through Cairo.
As of today, feb 18th, Illinois has had my 2009 income tax refund of $275 for one year.
A dentist friend of mine tells me that the state owes him from 3 years ago as a result he does not accept state patients anymore, these aren't just welfare reciepents but some were state workers.
He now treats some indigent patients on an emergency basis only and does it for free, not bothering to bill the state.
Gas stations around my area have prominent signs displayed saying that they will not accept state of Illinois credit cards, those signs have been up for years. Illinois may well be the worst state in the nation about not paying its bills. Maybe some Californian can tell me if its worse in their state.
