As Mary Elizabeth Williams wrote earlier this evening over at Salon, several reporters and bloggers have decided to hinge the story of Lara Logans rape on the blond reporters looks. Simone Wilsons LA Weekly post mocks Logans beauty, saying, Egyptian protesters apparently consummated their newfound independence by sexually assaulting the blonde reporter. Consummated? Unconscionable.
The Mofo Politics blog featured a post on February 3rd, saying, OMG if I were her captors and there were no sanctions for doing so? I would totally rape her.

“Remember Oprah’s “rape rape” idiotic comment”
I think that was Whoopi Goldberg.
However, I agree with your point.
Thank you to everyone who stood against mocking and blaming the victim and for right here on FR.
Rape is not funny nor is it ever a womans fault by its very definition. It is a violent crime about power over a woman, committed by cowards.

Not sure I agree with your definition of rape. But lets assume I do...
If rape is never a woman’s fault, then the legal term ‘sexual assault’ comes into play. And in fact that’s the “official term” that’s in play with the unfortunate Ms. Logan.
So, if rape is never the woman’s fault, then if a ‘”sexual assault” occurs, then we must assess different levels of responsibility and blame.
Fair statement?
Really. I just can't imagine such a thing!
What this gal went through could very well be an awakening for her.
Whatever else she may be, she's still human and no one "deserves" to be sexually assaulted.
Liberals are either nasty people or supremely clueless, but I don't wish what happened to Lara Logan on anyone.
Be well Allegra. From the sounds of it, things are starting to unravel a bit.
Read the Kos comments if you want to see psychopaths on the loose. For every comment expressing sympathy there are at least two out there searching for “islamophobia’ and deviance from the party line.
The comments here are indeed disturbing. Some suggesting she deserved what happened, others doubting whether it really happened. Sounds like a bunch of damned Sharia Muslims around here!
“I agree. The comments here were disturbing. FR aint what it used to be...”

I disagree. I’ve been around FR since its inception, and I am in full favor of the loss of the santimonious posturing that used to dominate. The comments here - on both sides and across the spectrum - deserve to be posted, read, and honored with our contemplation. Even yours.
Go to Kos
More specifically, liberals are either evil communists or useful idiots.
So far, things are pretty even here, although there was some trouble with protesters in al Kut.
Al Kut tends to be a problem area, though.
If any of that starts creeping into Baghdad, I'll get on a plane. :)
great post.
I love how the left keeps telling us that we should not anger muslims of insult them and then they say get rid of don’t ask and have openly serving homosexuals.
Even have open homosexuals be over in Saudi etc as a Ambassador.
Yes openly serving homosexuals will go down great in Pakistan, Afghanistan etc.
I think the loon left are just totally unable to understand how the real world works.
Kos psychopaths on the loose looking for deviation from the PC line.
I believe what you’re referring to is the true rejection of PC, where people are not afraid to tell a truth because that truth is offensive or uncomfortable.
I'm not blaming the victim. I'm saying that she put herself in a position to be a victim. No one ever thinks it's going to happen to them.
You go to the mosque.
The media and most reporters are dumb and think that the world revolves around them. When they fail to take measures to protect themselves then they should not complain to much.
