On Friday February 11, the day Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak stepped down, CBS correspondent Lara Logan was covering the jubilation in Tahrir Square for a 60 MINUTES story when she and her team and their security were surrounded by a dangerous element amidst the celebration. It was a mob of more than 200 people whipped into frenzy.
In the crush of the mob, she was separated from her crew. She was surrounded and suffered a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating before being saved by a group of women and an estimated 20 Egyptian soldiers. She reconnected with the CBS team, returned to her hotel and returned to the United States on the first flight the next morning. She is currently in the hospital recovering.
There will be no further comment from CBS News and Correspondent Logan and her family respectfully request privacy at this time.

Knew something was going on when she was not on air from here in US after returning to CONUS.
This rumor has been working for a few days, and was all but confirmed by the lack of comment or denials from anyone at Black Rock or West 57th.
Some may say Logan has a checkered past, but nothing deserves this!
When 3 CBS engineers were killed by a perp years ago, Rather went into a (well deserved) on-air outrage. This time, there will probably be nothing, because, Lord knows, we don’t want to upset the “Arab Street.” Source with many years in SWA says many Muslims will approve of this, because, it was an infidel getting what she deserved.
When will the rest of America wake up?
Guess you could say she is now a graduate of the School of Hard Knocks...
Sadly, that makes some sort of sense. But what would they have said about America after they saw her? We truly would have been the great satan.
Lara is lucky to be alive.
Bastards. I hope they rot in hell.
You kneejerk automatically believe liberal reporters who tried their hardest to damage the war effort in Iraq like Ms. Logan, I don’t.
If you read the CBS notice about the attack, it is completely unsourced, just a blind statement with no names attached to it. Yet, in your eyes it is 100% credible.
I have not said her background merited any attack, I just said I don’t automatically believe everything I read considering the source.
ughhh...before you start the liberal journalist crap...her husband is a defense contractor and she has two little kids.
If you had any class, you would ask the mods to remove that comment.
I am sure that Logan volunteered for the assignment and was not forced by CBS to do it. She could have done more to protect her own security by dressing differently. The main reason CBS has not been more forthcoming about the incident is because it doesn’t fit with their narrative about who those people in the streets really are.
“Do you have sympathy for Anderson Cooper who was also hit and beaten?”
I do. I have sympathy for all in harm’s way. You can’t equate what happened to LL with a beating. It is something far worse.
I'm sure you have........Considering her history and CBS's protection of Rather, I'm calling this story bullshit despite your name dropping "high sources"...........
Maybe you should check with your "Very Senior Retired CIA officer" buddy to get the complete details, he should have that information shouldn't he?
The real perps are out of our reach, that is why some people are looking at this side of the ocean.
I do wonder if Ms. Logan had any say in the idea of sending her to Egypt. Whose idea was it to send a young, good looking blond babe to an Arab country during a period of political unrest?
That would be interesting.
I hope she is healing and doing well - - and I hope with my whole heart that she didn’t experience what I fear she experienced.
When did I ever say that she did it to herself? I do believe that she took unnecessary risks by dressing the way she did given the circumstances and the region. I lived 9 years in three Islamic countries. You don’t make yourself a target needlessly. Logan is a tough, experienced reporter who knew the risks going in. Her gender is really irrelevant to me.
No woman “deserves” to be gang raped. Period.
and our muppet welcomes, and respect these animals.
No doubt CBS care more about their agenda then actually calling on bozo the clown to denounce this and speak the truth about the real protesters.
Now imagine if this was a tea party?
why send a good looking woman into these places anyway.
It just shows how of touch the left is with muslims and certain areas.
In their world it is all rosy and peace
Oh, and BTW, you forgot Greg Palkot and his cre who were also assaulted.....why didnt you mention them?
I can't mention them all. Palkot is just the same as Logan and Cooper to me in terms of their treatment. She deserves no special sympathy. She was doing her job and understood the risks and dangers involved. I have no doubt she volunteered for the job.
can you tell me that joke again please as I’ve forgot it
