Arizona lawmakers are trying to widen the state's illegal immigration crackdown with a proposal to require hospitals to confirm whether patients are in the country legally.
The National Conference of State Legislatures says it knows of no other states considering similar bills.
The proposal being heard late Monday by the Arizona Senate's judiciary committee would require hospitals to contact immigration authorities if a patient is an illegal immigrant.

GALVESTON The crushing news came last month as Maria Sanchez was being prepared for surgery to remove a banana-size tumor along her spine that had crept between her vertebrae. Unable to use her right hand because of the growing tumor, Sanchez, 24, had been at the University of Texas Medical Branch's John Sealy Hospital for six days when, she said, a Spanish-speaking doctor told her she had to leave the hospital immediately because she was an illegal immigrant.
The doctor said she should have surgery in Mexico, according to Sanchez. Sanchez's hospital records state that she was discharged because she was "an undocumented pt (patient) with no insurance." Records show that Sanchez underwent at least one medical procedure and surgery was scheduled before she was dismissed without warning Jan. 12.
After being discharged, Sanchez called her (?) husband, Luis Aguillon, a legal US resident, who arrived at the hospital to find his wife and his mother sitting on her bed crying. "They treated us like animals, like dogs or something," said Aguillon, 36, an unemployed welder.
(According to the Chronicle reporter) Sanchez's abrupt expulsion raises ethical and legal questions about the treatment of low-income patients with life-threatening conditions.
A doctor who reviewed Sanchez's medical records for the Houston Chronicle said they showed that UTMB ejected a woman with a potentially fatal condition because she was unable to pay. (Excerpt) Read more at chron.com ...

THEY LEFT A PAPER TRAIL : The illegal grifters shopped at least five US hospitals and three clinics to extort taxpayers for medical care.....then moved from Galveston to Houston in order to get free care.
Shopping five hospitals and three clinics for free care took a lot of time. You just dont call an Oncology Dept and get an appointment that day; may take weeks or months. Which leads to several conclusions:
1. The latina was diagnosed in mexico and came here to suck-off US taxpayers for free treatment.
2. Her "husband" is a phony, someone she colluded with to pull off this healthcare scam.
3. They violated our borders after being clued in on how to scam the US healthcare system.
4. Grifters keep whining about "abuse." Probably knew she would be denied care---fully intending to file a lawsuit.
5. Mexican govt lawyers are egging them on.......conniving to reach their goal of draining the US Treasury.
My answer :” You don't need to. You only deport the ones that show up at hospitals, courts (to sue legal Americans), government benefits offices (food stamps), the police to report crimes, and to register their kids to public schools ”
Let them know the free stuff is turned off to them. That should get the message across.
Good, the sooner the better.
Thanks for the ping.
Every policy such as this that shines a spotlight on illegal immigration will reduce the incentive to cross the border and come here.
Opposition to illegal immigration is something that most citizens understand and oppose and it isn’t along the Party line. I know Democrats that oppose it as much as Republicans.
I have a AZ acquaintance who is well to do, says he is quite conservative, big Bush fan, Repub fundraiser, and he owns a nice restaurant in AZ. I once told him some years ago that I was thinking of volunteering for the Minutemen. His demeanor changed and didn’t say a word about immigration or illegals and totally changed the subject. It turns out he hires illegals in his restaurant.
A few in America benefit from having an open border policy (employers and politicians) while the rest of us are required to pay and will for a long time.
Yep, turn off the freebies, and the ability to work here or have bank accounts or own a home if you’re not a citizen, and the exodus would commence.

BINGO!
I heart AZ!!!!
Oh, if ONLY somehow, over the rainbow, we could have this in California!!! Cue Steven Tyler: “Dream on, dream on...”
