Hosni Mubarak had harsh words for the United States and what he described as its misguided quest for democracy in the Middle East in a telephone call with an Israeli lawmaker a day before he quit as Egypt's president.
The legislator, former cabinet minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer, said on Israel TV Friday he came away from the 20-minute conversation Thursday with the feeling the 82-year-old leader realized "it was the end of the Mubarak era."
"He had very tough things to say about the United States," said Ben-Eliezer, a member of the center-left Labor Party who has held talks with Mubarak on numerous occasions while serving in various Israeli coalition governments.
"He gave me a lesson in democracy and said: 'We see the democracy the United States spearheaded in Iran and with Hamas, in Gaza, and that's the fate of the Middle East,'" Ben-Eliezer said.
"'They may be talking about democracy but they don't know what they're talking about and the result will be extremism and radical Islam,'" he quoted Mubarak as saying.

"He contended the snowball (of civil unrest) won't stop in Egypt and it wouldn't skip any Arab country in the Middle East and in the Gulf.
"He said 'I won't be surprised if in the future you see more extremism and radical Islam and more disturbances -- dramatic changes and upheavals," Ben-Eliezer added.

It'll be like Iraq. Beginning with some political theater to grab everyones attention (squabbling among all the political parties), the elections go off without a hitch people are thrilled to get a chance to vote for change and in the end it will have been as if nothing really mattered in the first place.
Considering the gov’t there has stepped up protections of Christians and has condemned in no uncertain terms the terrorists who have been killing them, I’d say the yare doing about the same as they are in Egypt.
We won in Iraq.
It shouldn’t be too difficult to protect them as there aren’t many left.
Notice that in the countries Mubarak mentioned we naively just helped to undermine or destroy the then- existing (if imperfect) authority. We ASSumed the merely getting rid of a tyrant (or a mere SOB) would clear the way for an American-style democracy, with the sole difference being that the millions of Cleaver families would be browner and have funny names...just as we have just done in Egypt.
This is far, far more comparable to Iran than Iraq. Oh, and I daresay that you know it, too.
“Considering the gov?t there has stepped up protections of Christians and has condemned in no uncertain terms the terrorists who have been killing them, I?d say the yare doing about the same as they are in Egypt.”
The Kerensky and Baktiar governments were considerably better than the Czar or Shah, both being reasonably dedicated to what we would call democracy and human rights.
While they lasted, that is. Both disappeared (with many of their higher-ups getting murdered), because they were used by those who were more organized and ruthless than they were. However, they presented a pleasant face for their publics and the world, and served the purpose of sweeping away the old order in a nation utterly unaccustomed and unready for democracy.
So will it be in Egypt, Fauxbama’s Iran.
As for Iraq, let’s withhold judgment for a while, shall we? Let’s see how long they stay a democracy after we leave.
Thanks for posting that. The Cheney stare is a classic. Wonder what it would be like today?
They will try to make Obozo look like Reagan when he told Gorby to “Tear down this Wall!”
A prediction
Muslims now gain control of Egypt then attack Israel. Israel kicks their butt (actually God does) and everyone becomes afraid of Israel. Israel thinks it is safe and lets down their guard then are attacked by Russia and Iran.
Mubarak: 'We see the democracy the United States spearheaded in Iran and with Hamas, in Gaza, and that's the fate of the Middle East"Thought I'd pinged this. Thanks kristinn.
I think both. This MSM article could be reported to fighthesmearsdotcom. That says it all, quite sadly.
That was one of the first times I've seen him wearing a hat! He had so danged much GRAVITAS that it has just devoured the left in their own frustration and hatred that they could not overcome his brilliance until he had an unfortunate, unforeseen hunting accident.
Then they could finally heap ridicule upon him with impunity!!! Letterman still cannot stop even though you know he must admire our man's GRAVITAS!!!
Now if I could only find those boxes of 00 Buck I hid around here about 20 years ago. Shazzam!!!
Re ammo for your 12 gauge, one of our younger relatives advised me to buy size 6 or 8 bird shot for home protection.
There is less chance of the bird shot going through a few dry walls and hitting an innocent person in your home or a neighobor.
Any bad pos hit with a 12 gauge 6 or 8 bird shot is disabled and in a world of pain for a long time. They will be hit with a lot of individual shot which will bring in clothing parts and other material into their body for damage then and infections later on.
I discussed this with some MDs, who hunt, and they said the bird shot is an awesome weapon at close range. One recommended a crouch shot at the guys breaking in.
You can buy a box of 24 birdshot shells for about the price of 5 double 00 shells.
Obama likes islam, he is for islam - things are going as he would like.
I have called our congressman and senator three times this week. This is the muslim president we were warning about three years ago.
He had no use, no sympathy for the demonstrators in Tehran in 2009.
And the NID says islamic brotherhood is secular (Clapper), National Security Advisor Brennan never utters the word islamist, DCI Panetta has 16,000 employees and a black budget of untold billions but gets his news from CNN.
While Napolitano warns of new domestic homegrown terror threats.
And The One says America can absorb another 911.
Clinton was re-elected in 1996 thanks to OKCBomb in 1995.
We may confidently predict another false-flag op.
As Obama in the pilot seat pushes the controls forward chanting that crazy little thing they do.
[This is the muslim president we were warning about three years ago.]
And half or more still don’t believe it.
Anything happens in our country and he lolls around until failure is insured. He bides his time waiting for other countries to fall to islam. Our country is still blind, but others aren’t.

0pansy voted “present” in the Illinois legislature to not leave a paper trail
He did it again for 180 days in the US Senate
He is now doing it from the White House
He always blames the other party, challenger, agenda
Oprah says we cannot correct or criticize a black President
Wait until November 2, 2012 Oprah
The voters will be saying “Hussein Junior must step down right now!”
.
I pray you’re right, but I fear how his ratings go up and down and what methods he will use to increase them later on.
I never watch Opera, don’t know what she says but her show is falling into the dumps. [her own channel or something?]
