Mubarak has stepped down, per a short statement from Vice President Suleiman. Crowds going wild in the streets.

How long until Obama takes credit for this???

What never ceases to amaze me are those who think that because they have physically been to an area that they are the harbingers of truth for the area. God gave us minds which with we are capable of contemplative thought...and oftentimes being away from the small area from which a local is may be a better, broader view of what is going on.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!! Thank you for that laugh....I needed that. It's been kind of a rough day at work.

I haven't just "been" physically to an area. I have been working in Iraq for seven years and have been to several other Middle Eastern countries in that time - long enough to get a pretty good view of what's going on, the mindset of people who have lived in a dictatorship for years and the mindset of those who haven't, but still live in an Islamic society. I have witnessed firsthand a nation getting its liberty.

But, yes, you watch Fox News and listen to Glenn Beck and read blogs, so you are certainly more informed than I.

{Still laughing...I might address some of the other later...still catchng my breath...}

Sorry to disappoint, wpin, but you’ve not insulted anyone with a brain in their heads reading these posts. You’ve certainly not insulted me because you haven’t evinced that you even grasp what anyone else is saying. You’re so convinced that your sunshine lollipops and rainbows perspective is the right one that you willfuly ignore those with firsthand knowledge of the region, preferring to focus on the jubilant faces in Tahrir square that you see on tv as proof of something. Yes, the Egyptians are elated that they’ve tossed the dictator, rightfully so. this is day 2. Let’s see what’s happening in a month. But you go ahead in your willful ignorance and ululate with the crowds while the grownups ponder the very perilous road that lies ahead of the Egyptian people.

Your attitude is showing me that perhaps you are not as qualified intellectually as you want to believe you are. You do not seem to understand that all intelligence is not equal. That knowledge is not limited to first hand experience and that perception is not always accurate from a “limited view” from inside rather than what may be a broader view outside. I would not discount your knowledge or experiences, but I definitely would not put a lot of stock into it simply by the fact that you have been there. Who knows, maybe you are simply another dumb ass just posting what you ‘think’, without regard to thinking, about what you perceive is going on.

But, getting past the personal attacks you made on me...let’s see some of your “intellect” on what is going on. So far all you have been doing is blustering pompously about how great you are...I am not impressed. So, while you are laughing insanely to yourself, maybe take a minute and “enlighten” us with your genius...

And your attitude tells me that you think quite highly of yourself, but come off as arrogant, rude and ignorant.

Bad combination there, bro.

Well xsmommy, you just go ahead and keep your head in the sand. I prefer to strive for victory rather than hide for delusion of safety. But, I fully understand your limited view of the world and your reluctance to support liberty. That is common for those who lead comfortable lives...we forget how important liberty really is. Those who have lived in tyranny understand much better than you or I the importance of living free lives.

So, in summary...you feel bad about a tyrant losing power, I rejoice. You feel fear about people exerting their right to be free, I will rejoice. You ignore the obvious FACT that this is not an Islamic uprising, evidenced by the reacting by Iran to shut down their internet and black out the news of Egypt’s overthrow to their own people. You ignore the FACT that none of these people in Egypt have been shown to waving marxist flags or chanting islamic or marxist themes, indeed they chant FREEDOM! I choose to consider the real facts, not just opinions of those who allow fear to rule over their senses. End of story, nothing else you have to say is really relevant to any meaningful discussion. You are simply resorting to insults and demeaning remarks. Shame on you xsmommy.

I already gave my view on it all yesterday, per a request. You were even pinged.

Do you have comprehension problems or are you just feeling a little insecure now?

That's how you're acting.

HAHAHAHAH, now you are giving me a laugh...thanks turkey. But, as I figured earlier, you really don’t have anything useful to say, just spew self indulgent crap thinking you are impressing when all you are really doing is making a fool of yourself. Adios kid.

AND that since I'm here, but he watches Fox News and reads blogs, he has a "broader view." Yep...nothing like that Twitter account to keep people up to date. ROFL

I wonder if he's a retread?

Allegra,

I hadn’t realized Non-sequitur was banned. I had numerous exchanges with him over the years (he was living in Johnson County, Kansas, though). He was rather an ill-fit for FR, an openly acknowledged “Moderate” (sic) Republican. He was one of the few on FR that defended the Allende regime in Chile, even after it was exposed that Allende was a traitor to his people for being a paid Soviet agent. I wondered what finally got him banned, and I see it was the long thread on the DADT repeal back in December, which got him personally zotted by JimRob himself.

yea I think poster has just about enough of him and certainly JR did.

It is amazing how many times JR has to say this site is not used for pushing the pro homosexual agenda and it we still have people who ignore it as NS did

" I am thinking of Ben Franklin’s quote regarding that very subject."

It's not a matter of security or freedom .. it's a matter of that I would rather be pleasantly surprised than sadly correct.
