* State TV says lines to Jordan, Israel affected
* Islamist groups called for pipeline attack - SITE
* Security source say army closes main source of flow
CAIRO, Feb 5 (Reuters) - Saboteurs blew up a pipeline that runs through Egypt's North Sinai and supplies gas to Israel, state television and other sources reported on Saturday.
State TV quoted an official as saying that the "situation is very dangerous and explosions were continuing from one spot to another" along the pipeline.
"It is a big terrorist operation", a state TV reporter said.
A security source said the Egyptian army closed the main source of gas supplying the pipeline.
"The armed forces and the authorities managed to close the main source of flow and are trying to control the fires," the source said.
Israel's National Infrastructure Ministry said it was looking into the incident.
Egypt is a modest gas exporter, using pipelines to export gas to Israel and also to Jordan and other regional states. It also exports via liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities on its north coast, but those are not in the Sinai region.
State television said the pipeline that was attacked supplied both the Israeli and Jordanian gas lines.

Fox has updated their article on their website to say the blast was either caused by a gas leak, or an explosive device. Officials in the area claim it was sabotage.
News is so unreliable right now, I give up. But there’s no question the “gas leak” explanation doesn’t cut it.
Interesting photo.
(1) you’d think the President of the USA could get a watch band that fits, and
(2) most lefties I know (I am one) wear their watch on their right hand.
Exactly! or the limpit charge.
NON-leaking gas just doesn’t explode ;-)
Reports now (BBC) of an explosion at a church in Rafah
The one thing the Egyptians had better start asking themselves is:
The Radical Islamist are destroying Egypts sources of income, food etc.
Ask the Islamist HOW they intend to re-establish that source of income?
I would be willing to bet they will hold the Suez canal as hostage. Pay a huge fee or go around.

To be honest if Obama sold US gas to Mexico way under market price, and then we had to buy it back because of a shortage (i.e. New Mexico) at a 12 billion profit to Mexico I wouldn’t be happy about it. Could be some lingering hard feelings.
Obama spoke up vociferously this week
to "defend" the terrorists Hamas, and the terrorist Moslem Brotherhood,
just as he has protected the Iranian
Imams from the enslaved Persian people.
Obama is nothing but silent as Jews and Christians are murdered
and their houses of worship burned and bombed
most often by none other than Obama's own supporters and agents.

I think it was a hate crime, the worst kind of crime imaginable... < / sarc >
He looks like a 70’s comedy lounge lizard in that photo.
I guess it’s fitting, since he is acting like we are in the 70’s again with Carter-II, energy crisis, inflation, etc.
I think WW3/nuclear war might have just started
do you have a report? hoping this was a thought with an /s
If the Muslim Brotherhood takes power they will go to war with Israel.
Egypt has 220 F-16’s and 1000 M1 tanks.
Israel will be forced to use nukes.
That is when all ____ breaks loose
>Israel will be forced to use nukes.<
one well placed nuke,
could change the course of the
Nile river.
putting Egypt out of business
I understand your point. God, asking protection for Israel and her people. May God Bless the USA, and protect her and her people too. I can witness, God’s Will, Will Be Done. Please do not ask me to explain, for it is simply, I believe God to be true. Hang In There, or Each of Us shall be hung.
It won’t just be Egypt I think.
Isn’t the question, “Who controls the Egyptian military?” Would those in charge allow their might be used to start WWIII?
The scary answer is I DON’T KNOW. and I really don’t know who knows. lol.
I guess we may find out rather soon.
I think you’re wrong in this assessment.
Terrorists can never win a stand-up fight with a modern military on a battlefield, or even in an urban house-to-house environment.
But terrorists could bring a nation to it’s knees by attacking infrastructure instead of blowing up cafe’s and sandwich shops to kill a few dozen people. Blow up oil and gas pipelines, take down transmission lines, blow out dams, levees, hydro installations, etc.
Pretty soon, the mass of the population is in the dark, perhaps freezing, (or baking) and they’re hungry. The government has to turn resources inwards to deal with infrastructure failures instead of chasing the terrorists, or the government falls as people riot. There’s a Chinese restaurant fortune cookie that says “An empty stomach makes a poor political advisor.” That’s very true in this case.
A small groups of engineers turned terrorists could bring the US to her knees in about four weeks.
In the middle east, a smaller group of engineers could bring the region to it’s knees in about the same amount of time. They’re overly dependent on “bigger, fewer” pieces of infrastructure. Lots of that infrastructure runs through areas of desert with no security or supervision. Easy, easy targets.
Someone is getting smart here. A few more IQ points and some follow through and there’s going to be Real Big Problems.
