Heavy gunfire resounded in the area around Cairo's Tahrir Square early Thursday as the battle between allies and foes of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak entered a second day.

there ARE no open air markets. Where do you think the markets get their food? Do you think these poor people are going to invest their money in food to sell, even if they could get it, and to risk losing all their money?
wow, wouldn't that be a conversion.
at any rate, I haven't watched TV for years now!
I have NO idea what you’re talking about, NOOB.
“I imagine most Egyptians still purchase their food at open air markets or bazaars.”
I was referring to this remark. Maybe I misunderstood - are you talking about the present moment or in general?
Savage noted that all the signs the protestors are waving are preprinted and in English. Doesn’t say exactly who is really behind this but it is telling.
Exactly. Everyone should have extra food on hand...and a lot of it.
There was just a report on TV that some of Egypt’s top military staff was in the US when these protests kicked off, were they the “would be” interim government?
Let we forget, Obama secretly met with the Muslim Brotherhood in 2009 in the US before his trip to Egypt.
How many times have we heard everyone was caught flat footed? When everyone is thinking the same thing, somebody is not thinking.
Yet, Elbaradei appears and has all the fashionable lefts earmarks: Nobel door prize for peace; UN career political hack; Iran apologist; and, pragmatic friend of the Muslim Brotherhood. Frankly, it’s hard to imagine a better pick if I were a leftist looking for the picture book ending.
We might do well to consider that this (now mess) isn’t going to the best/long laid plans by the community organizer and cohorts.
So, if you were president at this time, what would you do ?
Just asking.
The same C-130 Obama used to disperse the oil spill?!
As president, I would announce that a semi-American-friendly dictator is better than a sharia Islamic theocracy and that the U.S. would rescind foreign aid to any entity less friendly than Mubarak. Furthermore, we would not allow the American-made fighter jets and anti-aircraft missiles purchased by Egypt to fall into the hands of theocrats.
The stage is set, the man selected by the UN is in place, not enough people have died...the blue helmets will show up next, we know how it goes, still following the Kenya Blueprint.
Just wait until the next elections in the US...THAT’S what worries me.
Yet another sign of how out of touch this administration is, they think hanging out with JLo will make him seem cool.
Just wait until the next elections in the US...THATS what worries me.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
You and millions of others. Maybe there will ba an impeachment initiative, Article II disqualification, or some other (ahem) intervening factor.
If i was Obama I would give up my pan-leninist one-world communist muslim social agenda. I would stop meeting with the muslim brotherhood to plan usurping allied governments. I would stop promoting the UN one-world el Baredaei as the CNN presidential candidate supported by Imanutjob from Iran.
I would have frank talks with the army about candidates to lead an interim government and help Mubarack make a graceful exit. I would help reinforce democratic institutions of Parliament and diminish power and intimidation by state security under threat of loss of billions in aid.
For starters.
