Heavy gunfire resounded in the area around Cairo's Tahrir Square early Thursday as the battle between allies and foes of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak entered a second day.

Four factions
mubarak stooges who make very good $ on the corrupt regime
discontented masses who really have been subjected to long term tyranny
opportunistic islamists who sense an opening for more power
army with popular support, power behind the throne, will remain so after they pick the new throne
I don’t think the islamists will succeed unless Obama gives them full backing, which is starting to look very likely.
Friday after prayers will be a pitched battle by the security police/mubarak thugs against any protestors. Islamists will take advantage and riot, loot, chaos. Then army will step in and suppress it all.
What I would like to know is who is funding the protestors, these dudes are organized and funded by someone. Methinks its the pan-leninist. Maybe he wants to put the UN nuke one world order el baradei in as a puppet for an islamist leaning Egypt, precursor to squeezing Israel out for a pan-islamist middle east, new dictators behoden to the One.
//tinfoil hat off//
Zero and Hillary: 2/3 of the three stooges.
Perfect words - ineffectual. What do you expect from a Senator who voted “present” 89 times and never voted yes or no? I’ve spent a lot of time in N Africa and I have very mixed feelings about what is going on here. My concern is that we’re going to have a run on people going to the state dept requesting political asylum and turning America into the next UK. You are going to think I’m on the wrong side when I say this, but I’m going to risk to anyway... Morocco who is not yet having trouble and Egypt, are the most welcoming to the west in N Africa and aside from aid, I believe the volume of tourists has a lot to do with this. Most of you may find this incredible, but I found the North African mind to be brillant. The young men who are fighting are people who have struggled and studied well because it is their own key to open the door to freedom. I stand behind the young people of Egypt and all of North Africa and pray their struggle is not in vain. Do you know what a young man in Morocco said to me this week (and he’s never been to America) “What we say here is if you want to be free you must fight for it - it isn’t free”. Does this sound a little bit familiar? If Obama does this right it’s going to be through God’s intervention because he is clueless. Any other president would have been behind that desk making an address to the American people days ago and, as usual, he’s hiding somewhere under a new car dealership American flag. The worst part of all of this, the majority of Americans don’t give a flip and don’t understand the ramifications in this. America better wake up~!!
Thank you for your response but I’m really ignorant about this situation. I just know it’s bad.
Fact is, they still want that tourist money even while this is going on.
I just never wanted to go there.
You are right on man - right on! With all the opium and oil money floating around the mideast I think the money is very accessible however from a variety of fronts.
We are in the most serious trouble we’ve ever been in in modern times. I cannot believe this idiot is not out there everyday. The young people of Egypt will feel so let down by America - AND the president who told them to march. OMG, this is a shame. Do you think we’ll survive Obama?
I imagine most Egyptians still purchase their food at open air markets or bazaars.
But he’s hiding under the desk trying desperately not to own it. Wonder what Michelle is saying? She’s gonna be pissed if they can’t have JLo for celebration Sunday.
Okay Obama...go back to Cairo and give another speech. Show those folks what a “walk on water”, community organizing, yahoo can do to a whole country. You are the man dude.
Get it on....
(meddling marxism at its best)
Good point. Thanks.
This actually has had an update...WAIT TIL THE CURFEW IS OVER then go to the airport...more blood on Obama’s hands.
I just know you are joking! Aren’t You?
I’m surprised it took this long for that to happen.
I’d have been out when this started instead of waiting to be told to leave.
But the food shortage exists nonetheless.
One thing that less developed economies have as an advantage is that they do not use just-in-time inventory stocking.
Here, any disruption between the distributor and the store and you might have only a few hour of stock left.
But with perishable stuff there isn’t much shelf life anyway, especially if not refrigerated.
i agree - Anderson is doing a great job even if I’m not a CNN gal. 7 a.m. there now.
no problem he just needs to go read a teleprompter to a few crowds, bot to a few more dictators, and then jet off on vacation again ... and everything will be just fine !
lol
“So Obama starts his third year by helping to promote a Civil War in one of the most Ancient Civilizations on the planet. Perhaps that merits a second Nobel Peace prize ?”
Perhaps he needs to give the first one back.
