CNN's Anderson Cooper and his camera crew were attacked and repeatedly punched by pro-government forces near Tahrir Square in Cairo today.
"My team were set upon by the crowd," Cooper said on CNN this morning via telephone from the safety of a hotel balcony. "There was no rhyme or reason to itit was just people looking for a fight, looking to make a point, and punching us." According to a Twitter post from George Hale, the English editor of the Ma'an news agency, who cited a CNN "manager," Cooper was punched "10 times in the head."

I didn't know that they had the reputation of doing this, but it was something I already presumed that they were doing.

When is Chrissy Matthews going to Cairo? If he does go, there won't be any tingles running down his leg. It'll be piss.

I watched that video expecting the idiot to be sporting a Bill Clinton ashtray face. I’m wondering now which half of this is the bull and which half is the other end.

At least Coop didn’t get teabagged in Cairo. Oh, wait, he probably wishes he did.

I suspect after 10 good punches from a FReeper he would not look so unscathed. Maybe he was bitched slapped 10 times in a gay bar and just thought he had been punched.

I think Cooper would enjoy being in an Egyptian prison. Yes, but does he like gladiator movies?

And who among us hasn’t wanted to do that? :’) But seriously, is the footage (euphemistically speaking in the age of digital media) on YT yet? Thanks lbryce.

Oh give me a break. At least he had the guts to be out there getting the coverage. Where were the guys from MSNBC or Fox?
Cooper faced an actual danger. He responded in a pretty brave manner, from the video.
To: Fawn
Well, you heard it on the radio. It *must* be true, right?

my oh my.... the stories one could tell, if one would not be (let me say removed, Sir), if one could tell the stories. Not knowing for certain, hennie pennie, I cannot tell through my screen, yet I do not believe you to be a Sir, thus no reference to you, when Sir was stated.

1. We do not watch so called “national” news here.
2. Egypt is not part of the United States.
3. Egypt is not in the U.S. Constitution.
4. Not interested in another attempted distraction from our economic conditions and their instigators.
5. Our “friends” are our fleets of floating aircraft carrier armadas.

won’t make it to Cairo, until at least mid-February.
