I watched protesters in the streets of Alexandria this morning tell Nic Robertson from CNN that they hated Mubarak because he supported the Israelis, and that the downfall of Mubarak would bring freedom to the region and destruction to Israel.

That’s just an absurd notion....according to the White House and a lot of Freepers here, the Egyptians just want democracy and peace. What are the Israelis thinking? /s

Israeli analysts fear Islamic takeover in Egypt

I don't blame them. The first post-Mubarak government might be moderate but they will eventually be overthrown by a radical religious faction. Then the stuff will really hit the fan.

The Egyptian Military has changed cosniderably since 1973. If I were Israel, I would not let myself get caught with my pants down again and I would start stockpiling ammo now as it seems that you probably won’t be able to count on Barack Obama for an emergency resupply.
