A flight carrying the spouses and children of Israeli envoys arrived at Ben-Gurion Airport, along with 40 Israeli citizens who were in Egypt on private business and wanted to return home.

“There is no need to flee,” one official said. “This is not an option. There are no attacks on our envoys, or on other embassies. The other embassies are also not evacuating their personnel.”

I have a son in Special Forces. After 9/11 I thought we could escape the city to our place at the beach (mid Atlantic area). Then it occurred to me the bridge could get blown up. Then my husband had to sell some land he had inherited. We used the money to buy land in West Virginian. No big bridges to cross. After my husband had Alzheimers I started keeping about 3 months worth of canned and dry food in addition to the refrigerator and freezer stock. Since I am 72 I figure a good supply is worth keeping in case of broken bones, illness or disaster. My young renter wanted me to contribute some to a poor people’s collection, but I explained I had my reasons for having that much food. The young don’t think much about disaster or death.

Muslim Brotherhood, Cont’d

Andy’s right that Hamas has its roots in the Muslim Brotherhood. So does Sudan’s President Omar Hassan al-Bashir, Egypt’s neighbor to the south, who came to power in a coup and ruled as the head of the National Islamic Front until the 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement when an interim constitution was adopted. In December, Bashir announced to supporters, “If south Sudan secedes, we will change the constitution and at that time there will be no time to speak of diversity of culture and ethnicity… Sharia and Islam will be the main source for the constitution, Islam the official religion and Arabic the official language.” This, of course, follows Muslim Brotherhood principles. This month, the south did apparently vote for secession (official results due in a week or so). This means Egypt could eventually be part of a vast new Ikwan Islamic state from Gaza to the northern border of the new Republic of South Sudan.
Sharm El-Sheikh is supposedly where Mubarak is holed up.

While I appreciate that such thoughts are merely speculative, to me it sounds like very astute and perceptive speculation. Recall that the severity of FDR's illness was largely kept from the public by the press. Likewise, JFK's infirmities were largely kept hidden, again by the press. It would not be unthinkable for Obama to be beset by serious medical problems that would be covered up both by his behind-the-scenes puppeteers and by (surprise surprise) a compliant press...
