I can get BBCA on my Dish.

CNN is sort of “half live”

FOX is mostly yesterdays news.

Well from what little I am getting there is a massive buildup of military since yesterday, and they seem to be sympathetic with the civilians, and the turrets are aimed away from the Embassies.

Looks to me like the military is prepared for unusual events, or outside interests.

I remember Iranian protestors in Los Angeles at the time. They covered up their faces because even here, they feared being killed by the Shah’s agents, and some were.

I get an uneasy feeling that years from now obama is still in power and the BBC is doing interviews of American protesters with face coverings so the SWAT teams cannot recognize them and invade their homes at night.

‘Ticker is saying at least 20 dead’

Latest number I heard is 35. Has anyone mentioned that the building next to the burned out party headquarters is the Cairo Museum (of antiquities), where all the artifacts from ancient Egypt (mummies, King Tut’s Gold, etc.) are kept.

You may know, or at least may be interested:

China has blocked internet searches for news about Egypt. This is what we have to look forward to if Obama gets his net neutrality kill switch.

Just like I heard Google searches for Obama eligibility and such get re-directed.

Internet red herrings and snipe hunts.

Might be my next tagline..

Apparently some weapons have gone missing. At least, that’s the current rumor from the Army checkpoints between Cairo and Suez. Army checkpoints are stopping people and searching cars, claiming they are “looking for missing arms.”

Looks we are finally getting some new video since FNF is now on, Mubarak won’t step down, asks for calm to the public.

I think the people have gone past accepting any words from Mubarak.

Can’t believe NO ONE has commented about the absence of ANY female protesters. And I mean NONE. Many conclusions from this. Obviously male dominated society where women have no standing or rights. Also think its indicative of a nasty strain of Islam that resides in Egypt. Even Iran had female protesters...

Cell phone service is returning, and apparently the police have fled, no more police and tear gas.

Mubarak won’t last the week if he stays. Well, maybe a month. Nothing he says will change things now, it’s past the point of no return.

The Army holds most major cities in Egypt, the cops have gone into hiding, and he’s dissolved the government. While WE need him to hold, if for no other reason than to keep the MB from taking over, I am fairly sure he won’t pull it off. And with the anti-America rhetoric being spread in relation to Mubarak, he’s screwed.

I saw a lot of women with protesters yesterday, a lot more than I have seen in most Middle East flareups.

Women and children.

I didn’t comment because I hadn’t noticed that. Nice catch! That supports claims that this revolution- that’s what it is now- is driven by Islam, most likely the MB.

I hadn’t noticed either way. You can confirm the presence of women? If so, it’s not as worrisome as I thought. I know there were kids there because at least 2 were killed.

Anyone think the military is about to take full control?

There are no women in anything public in the Middle East. It’s like half the world doesn’t exist. Same thing when you see a photo of a shopping mall in Saudi Arabia - it’s entirely men, window shopping, drinking coffee, going in and out of the shops in pairs.

I’m always amazed that nobody comments on this, either. By way of exception, the brief uprising in Iran did have women in it (one was even killed by Ahmadinejad’s forces). But of course that was not a pro-Islamist protest.
