We really need to pick one of these threads as a “Live Thread” clearing-house — when every development gets its own thread, I end up with so many Windows open that my taskbar overloads....

(Any luck finding the pinglist for “The Old Homethread”??)

Gee, it couldn’t happen to a bigger schmuck. The last I heard, it seems that the military is in charge.

There is a pro-Western side and there is a pro-Iran side.

The guy getting arrested is a troublemaker who supports Iran.
Obama is likely to be very upset by this event.

Since the Muslim Brotherhood is getting into the mix, I assume that Iran is palying about in this.

Also, you’re welcome.

The protests that occurred in Tunisia & Algeria and now Yemen, Egypt & Jordan are all being fomented by the Muslim Brotherhood with support from Iran. El Baradei is just a pawn being used by them & they will get rid of him when they no longer need him.
Yes, the protesters want to get rid of Mubarak and call for democracy. The Muslim Brotherhood promises them more freedom and the people being uneducated, will believe them.
This is what Khomeini did...it’s happening again & again.

“...Police also used batons to beat some of Mr. ElBaradei’s supporters,...”

There’s something that’s just so, so, COMFORTING about watching Police beat the living hell out of Muktar, Achmed, Muhammed, Mohammed, Achmohammed, Achmekmuktar, etc., with lead-filled nightsticks.

Somehow, it just feels.....right....I dunno...I get a tingly feeling up me’ leg...

I don’t necessarily see the Muslim Brotherhood as behind the Egyptian unrest. They appeared to be officially on the sidelines when these broke, despite government propaganda accusing them of orchestrating them. However, it is possible that they can try to mobilize themselves so that they ride this wave of anger into power.
