Egyptian security officials say Nobel Peace laureate Mohamed ElBaradei is under house arrest, the AP reported. Police stationed outside his suburban Cairo home told him he cannot leave the house after he joined tens of thousands of protesters in the capital Friday.
Earlier, police used water cannons against Mr. ElBaradei and his supporters as they joined the latest wave of protests after Friday noon prayers. Police also used batons to beat some of Mr. ElBaradeis supporters, who surrounded him to protect him

And worse...
(not that I have anything but contempt for ElBaradei)
How insulting to El Bareidi, the father of a nuclear Iran!
We really need to pick one of these threads as a “Live Thread” clearing-house — when every development gets its own thread, I end up with so many Windows open that my taskbar overloads....
(Any luck finding the pinglist for “The Old Homethread”??)
Gee, it couldn’t happen to a bigger schmuck. The last I heard, it seems that the military is in charge.
Too bad they didn’t get ElBaradei with one of their batons.
Fish bait, take him shark fishing.
“The last I heard, it seems that the military is in charge.”
Hadn’t heard, but that’s par for the course.
btw - thanks for the Flikr link : )
The guy getting arrested is a troublemaker who supports Iran.
Obama is likely to be very upset by this event.
Since the Muslim Brotherhood is getting into the mix, I assume that Iran is palying about in this.
Also, you’re welcome.
This is a good chance for Egypt to take out the Pesky Muslim Brotherhood Jihadist fanatics.
The protests that occurred in Tunisia & Algeria and now Yemen, Egypt & Jordan are all being fomented by the Muslim Brotherhood with support from Iran. El Baradei is just a pawn being used by them & they will get rid of him when they no longer need him.
Yes, the protesters want to get rid of Mubarak and call for democracy. The Muslim Brotherhood promises them more freedom and the people being uneducated, will believe them.
This is what Khomeini did...it’s happening again & again.
Indeed. Dare I dream that it comes to pass that the MB is swept into the rubbish bin?
Indeed, and Barack Ocarter has his thumb planted squarely up his bum.
“...Police also used batons to beat some of Mr. ElBaradeis supporters,...”
There’s something that’s just so, so, COMFORTING about watching Police beat the living hell out of Muktar, Achmed, Muhammed, Mohammed, Achmohammed, Achmekmuktar, etc., with lead-filled nightsticks.
Somehow, it just feels.....right....I dunno...I get a tingly feeling up me’ leg...
I don’t necessarily see the Muslim Brotherhood as behind the Egyptian unrest. They appeared to be officially on the sidelines when these broke, despite government propaganda accusing them of orchestrating them. However, it is possible that they can try to mobilize themselves so that they ride this wave of anger into power.
Mohamed ElBaradei is under house arrest
Okay... so what's the problem?
