After claiming that the Nation was "poised for progress", the stock market was "roaring back" and the "back of the recession had been broken" he called the Nation to "win the future" through innovation, education and the rebuilding of our infrastructure. In the first half of the speech he also outlined a governing approach to accomplishing these policy goals which positioned federal funding and federal assistance as making it possible for us to "reinvent ourselves."
The President told both chambers of Congress that we could be in our "Sputnik moment" explaining, "Our free enterprise system is what drives innovation. But because it's not always profitable for companies to invest in basic research, throughout history our government has provided cutting-edge scientists and inventors with the support that they need. That's what planted the seeds for the Internet. That's what helped make possible things like computer chips and GPS.
"Just think of all the good jobs - from manufacturing to retail - that have come from those breakthroughs..."
...The Republican response was given by Wisconsin Republican Paul Ryan, the House Budget Committee Chairman. While showing respect to the President, he laid out a very different governing vision stating, "We believe government's role is both vital and limited - to defend the nation from attack and provide for the common defense . to secure our borders. to protect innocent life. to uphold our laws and Constitutional rights . to ensure domestic tranquility and equal opportunity . and to help provide a safety net for those who cannot provide for themselves.

What next from Obama?
"Work will Make You Free" ??
On the subject of cars, it seems that GM may not be a loss to the government (and us) after all. I wonder if the One, or key advisors, knew what is in this article when he made the gamble to save GM:
Obama suggested we are in our “Sputnik moment”.
And
Sputnik - meaning “satellite” and roughly translated as “fellow traveler.”
It follows
Fellow traveler or fellow traveller is a derogatory term referring to a person who sympathizes with the beliefs of an organization or cooperates in its activities without maintaining formal membership in that particular group. In the early Soviet Union the approximate term was used without negative connotation to describe writers and artists sympathetic to the goals of the Russian Revolution who declined to join the Communist Party. The English-language phrase came into vogue in the United States during the 1940s and 1950s as a pejorative term for a sympathizer of Communism or particular Communist states, who was nonetheless not a “card-carrying member” of a Communist party. -wikipedia
So then Obama is calling for our communist sympathizing moment?
As if that was a news flash or something!
Yes, I have. Some are better. Some are worse.
For being the richest nation on the planet, our infrastructure is horrendous. We are on the brink of having to destroy and completely rebuild many bridges and tunnels and roads because they were not properly maintained by the government and unions largely.
WTF?
hard to innovate when you can’t get a patent and when you do, the Chinese steal it.
Zeig Effin Heil , Obama , Zeig Effin Heil.
The traitorous bastard.
Don't forget another unfortunate acronym, Jimmah Carter's energy crisis program that was the "Moral Equivalent of War" (MEOW). The smartest man to occupy the WH (if you care to believe the liberal media) was apparently not smart enough to realize what the acronym was and how it could be turned against him in various humiliating ways.
I think that some of Sarah Palin's peeps were reading your post ...
I don’t know about stimulus to GE, but he is going to have a hard time promoting more government if he holds the budget to the same amount for the next 5 years. Of course, maybe he can find some waste to get rid of and free up some money that way.
win the future. How about we survive the present.
Nice image. There needs to be a space between and, and your
I liked Sarah Palin’s response about “Winning The Future” (WTF). She said there were a lot of WTF moments in the speech!
I saw it and if Pelosi wasn't loaded on something (drugs or alcohol), she should have been. She was an absolute dolt!
Defense cuts, bank on it. Also those old white folks ready to get on Social Security.
"We've bled the patient and although he looks worse, he really isn't worse, he's getting better, take my word for it. We will increase the bleeding until there's full recovery."
Still say you have a better gut than me.
By the end I would have been choking back the liver bile and heading for a toilet.
She manages this without drugs or alcohol. Amazing woman!
Missed it ..darn
