The Illinois Supreme Court has granted Rahm Emanuel's stay. Which means he's back on the ballot.

Earlier today Emanuel's spokesman Ben Labolt said he had plans to turn to the U.S. Supreme Court if Emanuel doesn't receive a favorable ruling from the state.

Emanuel's lawyers filed an emergency appeal with the Illinois Supreme Court, asking to have him re-added to ballots. Today, ballots are being printed without Emanuel's name after an Illinois Appellate Court residency decision on Monday booted him.

Some believe Emanuel will look at a First Amendment question for the U.S. court to weigh in if a state ruling doesn't go his way

I think they SHOULD take it up. But, the only available slot given their heavy schedule, would be to hear the case, in toto, at 1/25 9:00 PM. Shouldn't take more than 2 hours.

President Barack Obama top political adviser Valerie Jarrett said Tuesday that the president thinks Rahm Emanuel belongs back on the ballot.

“I think that [Obama] believes that [Emanuel] is eligible, and that he believes that Rahm will pursue his appeal in the courts,” Jarrett, a senior adviser to Obama and fellow Chicagoan said on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

The former chief-of-staff was bounced from the Chicago mayoral ballot Monday in a surprise decision by the Illinois Appellate Court.

At a morning event, Emanuel said he already has spoken with the president.

“I’m discreet about conversations,” he said.”It was a very good conversation.

Jarrett said she doesn’t think they’ll be able to keep Emanuel down for long.

Without reading all the threads, and it may have already been said, but you KNOW his name will be printed on the ballots, a court fight will continue, and in the end, the "it's too late to remove the name from the Ballot....there's no time left to do so" will be the excuse, and he will then win the Election.

THAT is when the power interests will make sure to shop the case to a Progressive-Minded Judge, to get the Illinois eligibility ruled "flawed", and he will be Mayor in the end.
