He is being honest, he knows as a saved child of God through Jesus Christ, that all others are not given the name of being God’s children, they are God’s creation, and certainly he knows to treat all as God, as it is His life in all things, but only those who accept redemption through the blood of Christ are given to be God’s children, being a created being does not mean you are a child...Got Jesus?

I think if Alabama were mostly Jewish or Muslim instead of 80+% Christian, he’d be in trouble.

This is a foolish remark.

Anyone who is not a Muslim is my brother and sister.

I don’t think there is ANYTHING in the New Testament that infers Christ thought that.

As for the ADL, WHERE are they when Muslims spout typical anti-Christian, anti-Jewish rhetoric??? The Koran is full of crap like this directed at all non-Muslims.

The Anti-Defamation League on Tuesday called Bentley's remarks shocking. "His comments are not only offensive, but also raise serious questions as to whether non-Christians can expect to receive equal treatment during his tenure as governor," said Bill Nigut, the ADL's regional director.

Total, utter, unmitigated twaddle. Anyone with half a brain can see that in the context whereby the remarks were made, i.e. in a Church and as an exhortation for others to embrace faith, they are not in any way offensive and in no way imply discrimination.

——His comments are not only offensive, but ——

The conclusion to be drawn is that non Christians are offensive. To be claim to be offended for being offensive is not allowed

Ashfaq Taufique, president of the Birmingham Islamic Society, told The Birmingham News he wasn't sure how Bentley's remarks were intended. "Does it mean that those who according to him are not saved are less important than those who are saved?" Taufique said. "Does he want those of us who do not belong to the Christian faith to adopt his faith? That should be toned down.

Toned down? Really, Mr. Taufique? Then in the interest of equality, how about toning down the rhetoric of Islam (Convert or we'll kill you)?

Bentley is an idiot. Regardless of his beliefs, the governor of a state just doesn't say things like this.

Unfortunately my home state of Alabama has, yet again, elected an idiot.

Yeah, he was probably speaking religiously. Anyone who knows what Jesus Christ taught and did knows He reached out to those who did NOT believe...so this kind of “furor” is ridiculous.

What if he said, “I’m not a Christian, so I’ll treat anyone and everyone any damn way I please—I’m not bound by this ‘Love Your Neighbor’ ethic taught by Christ.”

(You know, kind of like Obama—he refuses to help his brother, aunt, poor extended family—even though he is a multi-millionaire. But he has NO PROBLEM “spreading the wealth” earned by others for social programs he sees fit to endorse.)

How can you be a member of the club if you reject the club?

The club is not exclusive, anyone can join.

They want their cake and eat it too.

His statement was completely taken out of context. And it wasn’t his inaguration speech it was at a church. But I agree he should be more careful with his words because conservatives don’t get a free pass like the liberals do. That said I think he is a refreshing change & is even refusing to take a paycheck until Alabama reaches full employment. I am proud to say I voted for him.
