Oil is once again flowing through the trans-Alaska pipeline after a weekend shutdown to repair a leak at a North Slope pump station.
Michelle Egan, spokeswoman for the Alyeska Service Pipeline Co., says oil began flowing Monday morning.
She says the goal for the next 24 hours is to bring the 800-mile pipeline up to 500,000 barrels a day. Before the leak was discovered more than a week ago, the pipeline was carrying about 630,000 barrels a day.
Egan says crews completed work on a 157-foot bypass line to go around the leak.
The pipeline in Alaska delivers about 13 percent of the nation's daily domestic oil production to tankers for West Coast delivery.

Oh, the huge manatee. The left is very troubled....
This should make for some interesting futures trading in the very short-term.
The Left would rather shut this thing down, pump it full of concrete and leave it as a monument to American crimes against the environment.
Hope you all enjoy your price reduction. As crazy as it sounds, we won’t see it in Alaska.
Good to hear this.
Bet we won’t see it either.
Dudden really matter. Prices around here continue to go up, up, up, up, up, yup, up!

Well you have a better chance than we do to see it. We’ve been paying over $3.00 a gallon for who knows how long, we’re around $3.50 now, and I think you’re still under $3.00?
FReep on brother!
Good news! They should run another line alongside and double the production and keep alternating/replacing the lines as they wear out. THIS IS GOOD FOR AMERICA.
Its at $3.17 a gallon here in Vermont.
You guys think you have it bad at $3.50 a gallon? Try 7 pounds a gallon in the UK (there’s always someone worse of than you!)
But seriously, does anyone else see this current ramp up in oil prices as being very similar to the goings on in 2008? Oil and other commodities soaring up as speculators moved in to make a quick buck on the back of the slightest piece of bad news- only to come crashing down as likely planned by the big speculating firms.
Of course this problem is being exacerbated by the destruction of the US dollar, and the fact that the “green movement” is being used as a blanket excuse for restricting drilling of oil and making the most use possible of natural hydrocarbon reserves (after all, you have to be able to explain nicely to the common people why they can’t afford to drive anymore- the war on climate change provides a perfect excuse for this that most suckers will buy into)
$3.60 a gallon in So. Calif. right now.
