We are witnessing subliminal propaganda all the time by the present administration. Last night is no exception, even though the words were appropriate (except the Indian blessing and the lack of the actual Bible being read by a minister & rabbi). Appropriate rhetoric requires the appropriate setting and tone; last night provided neither,right down to the positioning of the seats for notable public figures front and center (with the families & injured behind black dividers).
Administration czars and unpopular officials rarely make appearances, e.g., Holder, who COULD have had a presser or two of his own—flanked by law enforcement, Mueller, local Tucson representatives, and the Dupnik character. A Tucson LEO and federal LEO could have been held on Saturday evening or at any time thereafter, especially given that the judge was murdered along with the congressional staffer.
The “Together We Thrive” campaign memorialization theme will erase “America and Tucson” and start using other implications, so that everything runs together. It is image and is meant to override facts, such the question of WHAT does that mean when we have 10% unemployment, 30% inflation on groceries, $3.XX/gallon gasoline, mounting foreclosures and over $14 trillion in (stated, non-off-the-books or obligated) debt. What is Truth becomes “what is ‘thrive’”?
Now, Chris Wallace has suggested that “there is a suggestion that” for the the upcoming SOTU, just this once, all members sit where they want. This is the Delphi and crowd maipulation, “diamond” technique, meant to create the image of unity when in fact there is none.
Everything here is visual and uses the absence of information, a la the stonewalling of DOJ on the Hasan shooter case, lack of the count of dead daily in Iraq or Afghanistan, questioning of government officials before Congress, or the bringing of charges against the Black Panthers, as evidence. This is also the Birth Certificate issue all over again, by virtue of the fact that its lack of release is being used to advance an agenda as though the agenda is legitimate.
The perceived illiteracy and visual-learning reliance of the American people is being used as a net positive for the 0bama administration. For that matter, the bridge at Chapaquiddick no longer exists and so will not be ‘missed.’
If we do not hear or see opposition, it will not exist. If we remove the ability to speak opposition, it will not exist. If we do not learn what opposition is, it will not exist. It is the absence of these things that highlights what this agenda really is.
Welcome to the ‘new’ civility. Hush now, and remember to “do as you’re told.” All you need to know will be done in darkness ahead of time; you have no clearance except what the ‘we’ in ‘yes we can’ decides what you ‘need to know.’

I was doing some digging last night and “Together We Thrive” is a term that has been used by various social, racial, economic, justice groups for a while now. Also found a connection to a library grant program and some apparent religious groups.
What we saw last night was some not so subtle propaganda. Obama did say that the shooting was the work of a crazed gunman but then connected it to politics by following with his commentary on civil discourse.
His dogs are well trained and barking loudly today.

“The Engineering of Consent” is an essay by Edward Bernays first published in 1947. He defines “engineering consent” as the art of manipulating people; specifically, the American public, who are described as “fundamentally irrational people... who could not be trusted.”
One of Bernays’ favorite techniques for manipulating public opinion was the indirect use of “third party authorities” to plead his clients’ causes. “If you can influence the leaders, either with or without their conscious cooperation, you automatically influence the group which they sway”, he said.
Kinda like Obama handing out lab coats for photo ops with doctors. Bernays originated the concept.

1913 Bernays was hired by the actor Richard Bennett to protect a play that supported sex education against police interference. Bernays set up a front group called the “Medical Review of Reviews Sociological Fund” (officially concerned with fighting venereal disease) for the purpose of endorsing the play.
Bernays helped the Aluminum Company of America (Alcoa) and other special interest groups to convince the American public that water fluoridation was safe and beneficial to human health. This was achieved by using the American Dental Association in a highly successful media campaign.

Goebbels had shown Weigand his propaganda library, the best Weigand had ever seen. Goebbels, said Weigand, was using my (Bernays) book Crystallizing Public Opinion as a basis for his destructive campaign against the Jews of Germany. This shocked me. ... Obviously the attack on the Jews of Germany was no emotional outburst of the Nazis, but a deliberate, planned campaign.
