Sarah Palin, who had been silent for days, on Wednesday issued a forceful denunciation of her critics in a video statement that accused pundits and journalists of blood libel in their rush to blame heated political rhetoric for the shootings in Arizona.
Acts of monstrous criminality stand on their own, she said in a video posted to her Facebook page. Especially within hours of a tragedy unfolding, journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence that they purport to condemn. That is reprehensible.
Ms. Palins use last year of a map with crosshairs hovering over a number of swing districts, including that of Gabrielle Giffords, had increasingly become the symbol of that overheated rhetoric. In and interview with The Caucus on Monday, potential 2012 rival Tim Pawlenty, the former Republican governor of Minnesota, said he would not have produced such a map.
But in the video, Ms. Palin rejected criticism of the map, casting it as a broader indictment of the basic political rights of free speech exercised by people of all political persuasions.
She said that acts like the shootings in Arizona begin and end with the criminals who commit them, not collectively with all the citizens of a state.
Not with those who listen to talk radio, she added. Not with maps of swing districts used by both sides of the aisle. Not with law abiding citizens who respectfully exercise their first amendment rights at campaign rallies. Not with those who proudly voted in the last election.

There are a few of these clowns on FR. Possibly, this is the only attention they get.
The attempted to incite a mob to kill Sarah Palin by the mass media is a blood libel. It fits the description very well.
Your ignorance is astounding. Do your research:
Blood libels are false and sensationalized allegations that a person or group engages in human sacrifice, often accompanied by the claim that the blood of the victims is used in various rituals and/or acts of cannibalism. The alleged victims are often children.
Some of the best documented cases of blood libel focus upon accusations against Jews, but many other groups have been accused throughout history, including Christians, Cathars, Carthaginians, Knights Templar, witches, Wiccans, Christian heretics, Romani people, Mormons, pagans, Native Americans, Africans, atheists and communists.
During the first and second centuries, some Roman commentators had various interpretations of the ritual of the Eucharist and related teachings. While celebrating the Eucharist, Christians drink red wine in response to the words “This is the blood of Christ”. Propaganda arguing that the Christians literally drank blood based on their belief in transubstantiation was written and used to persecute Christians. The Romans were highly suspicious of Christian adoptions of abandoned Roman babies and this was suggested as a possible source of the blood.

this guy is trying to say that Governor Palin is anti semetic.

Nonsense. If I wanted to say that Palin is anti-semetic I would have. I did say and will repeat that imo the use of blood libel was ill-advised to the point of being stupid. It has given her opponents a pivot point upon which to turn the debate back against her. Please explain the wisdom in that.
Silly FB has me totally trained to look for the “Like” button when I see responses/posts I agree with.. Hopefully JohnRob will add one to FR soon! ;-)
LIKE LIKE LIKE. ;-)
Barry Goldwater once said that he wished we could slice off the east coast of the US and let it float away.
When I read your posts, I start to think he had a point. especially New York City and Boston. politically correct and morally bankrupt.

Geez, that's exactly the point.
But wtc is still pissed off.
Accusing Sarah Palin of murder is also inflammatory.
It was meant to create a literal lynch mob. They want Palin dead.
That is why it is a blood libel.
Good for her to stand up to the bull@#$% the MSM is excreting.
That is completely backwards. The phrase is most commonly used by Jews to point out false and defamatory statements made about them by others.
But I disagree strongly. No ethnic group owns the term "blood libel," and Sarah Palin has used it aptly.
I'm reminded of old movies in which some character has become hysterical, screaming and ranting and oblivous to reason. The hysteric's behavior is portrayed as dangerous, in that it could become contagious to the rest of the crowd in the scene.
Then some other character --usually the hero of the story-- walks up to the hysterical screamer and slaps him (or usually her) smartly. The hysteric, suddenly stunned, shuts up and stops inflaming the crowd.
Well, the hysterical screamer in this case is the Left/MSM. And make no mistake, it is THEY who are dangerous to public safety, not Sarah Palin. Sarah has slapped them smartly.
So while it's not likely this scene will unfold quite like it does in old movies, at least the sickeningly irresponsible, hysterical Left/Media will be stunned out of its own inciteful rant by Sarah's perfect metaphor. This is exactly what the country needs.

Do you really think if she hadn't used that phrase they wouldn't try another tactic? Sometimes your PDS is so striking, you have no clue about how clueless you've become.
Just wondering, did you believe it when the democrat/media complex tried to say the Challenger disaster was Reagan's fault because he wanted to use it in his state of the union speech?
I’m not Jewish and I felt blood libeled even before there was any mention of the term in the media.
“Palins use of a notoriously anti-semetic term as a way of describing herself as a victim of the media, especially given that the real victim here is Jewish, is either grossly ill-informed or intentionally belligerent. Either one is stupid. Not my fault if you dont see it.”
Palin was subjected to reckless and utterly baseless accusations of abetting murders (recall there was many more than one victim in this shooting). The accusations tell us more about the accusers than the accused.
Referring to this as a “blood libel” is not too big a stretch of the meaning of the phrase. The intent of a traditional “blood libel” and of what’s being done to Palin is very similar; similar also are the accusations that are made.

Thanks for posting and reminding everyone that we should not get complacent because Sarah Palin made a great speech. The leftists are more angry than ever since Nov 2.
“””Amazing how the MSM contrasts liberal vs. conservative commentary on the issue. On CNNs webpage now:
Obama speech meant to comfort nation
as opposed to:
Palin lashes out on shootings.
They dont even try to be subtle.””
Everyone knows what she meant. there was nothing hostile there toward Jews.
It is blood libel.
