Wilmington, Delaware (CNN) -- Police have found homicide victim John Wheeler's cell phone, according to a taxi driver who was interviewed by investigators this week.
Athel Scott told CNN National Correspondent Susan Candiotti that police told him they found the cab driver's number in the phone of Wheeler, the former Pentagon official who was found dead in a Delaware landfill. He said investigators wanted to know how his number got there. Scott... says he told the police he didn't have any idea.
"I never got a call from the man. I don't know him... He's never been in my cab. I don't know how my number got in his cellphone," Scott says he told police...

Thanks your a doll.
Thank you, I have been busy with other things, and now, I can go back and take a good look at all of this, thanks for putting this together.
Lots of good references. Thanks.
Morning thought: If attacked after visiting pharmacy it would be in a public place in broad daylight. Someone would have seen something.
AC360 also had a very small blurb.
THANKS for the ping AW. As the boy said in “The Shining” => REDRUM!!!!!!!!!
Thanks!
If that is the case then this to me was a hit job. No street thugs would work this way.
As to the keys. No they do not keep them at the garage.
Re: briefcase:
If he was doing top secret jobs no paperwork or computer would leave the facility.
I still go back to what my dad kept in his briefcase. (Mom called it his purse) He kept things he needed but were too big or heavy to keep in his pockets: Keys, cards, medicine, cell phone, etc. At one time he carried his drivers license in a money clip that carried paper money, but when he stopped driving even the DL went into the briefcase with his cards.
Re: Parking garage. There does not appear to be a garage at the house. It is reported several places his “beloved car”. He wanted to keep the car out of the weather in a secure spot. Not on the street where it would be vandalized. Knowing how thrifty he was, I imagine that the monthly cost of keeping his car in that particular space was the cheapest in the vicinity. It may have been a different garage then he used in previous years, thereby the confusion.
IMO EIther a hit job or the neighbors...or both.
Wish someone had a subscription to one of the geneology sites and could connect families to the NJ family (Connected to all the families through their murder-for-hire business) arrested with the BIG takedown last week. I think there’s a connection, but just can’t put the exact link together.
I'm guessing taxis are lined up outside the train station so he wouldn't need the phone to call for one. But those dates don't make sense because most people use their phones 24/7, unless he has a second phone. He would have realized he'd left the phone over at the neighbor's IF he'd been over there, however if it was placed there as a plant then he'd have no clue where to start looking for it.
Thanks for ping and ping review/lol. . .
Something else that sticks in my mind... he had the wherewithal to state this “I’m not drunk, I’m not drunk,” Goldsborough quoted Wheeler as saying.
So, my thinking is that he knew what was wrong with him yet refused help. Did he not want to go to police or hospital?
Great job rounding up the important stuff :)
Incredible, thanks AW. I’m still shaking my head about the ‘he went in the dumpster to get warm’ story. Someone certainly was ‘acting stupidly’ to say that.
Wish someone had a subscription to one of the genealogy sites and could connect families to the NJ family. (Connected to all the families through their murder-for-hire business/uses construction business/plumbing-heating and cooling as a front) Only two arrested with the BIG take-down last week. I think there's a familial connection, but just can't put the exact link together.
I believe there are many patriotic Freeper veterans who are retired law enforcement and Intelligence experts who will be dedicated to not letting this murder be swept under the political carpet.
Wheeler was a patriot who supported Vietnam veterans and ensured that we have the awesome Vietnam Memorial in DC. All of us owe it to all those who served to find his killer(s).
Thanks for the ping!
Of the search warrants Newark PD obtained we 2 for the same IPhone, but from different Justices of the Peace. (Farrall could not explain why two separate search warrants for Wheeler’s Apple iPhone were issued by different justices on the same day.)
You raise an interesting point. I have my doubts about him dropping his cell phone at the neighbors.
