Wilmington, Delaware (CNN) -- Police have found homicide victim John Wheeler's cell phone, according to a taxi driver who was interviewed by investigators this week.

Athel Scott told CNN National Correspondent Susan Candiotti that police told him they found the cab driver's number in the phone of Wheeler, the former Pentagon official who was found dead in a Delaware landfill. He said investigators wanted to know how his number got there. Scott... says he told the police he didn't have any idea.

"I never got a call from the man. I don't know him... He's never been in my cab. I don't know how my number got in his cellphone," Scott says he told police...

I’m on my ‘other’ computer and may be able to check things off and on today — I tried the video this morning from home to look for the video where I got the pics yesterday but, it would not open ?? Are things disappearing.

Will check more as I can.

Some of the links used earlier, now will not open...Am wondering if FBI is trying to keep some of the information released before they took over the investigation and before Biden put the gag order on warrants quiet. (probably at FBI request).

Released material is getting hard to find and substantiate. Yes some of the early material is conjecture and therefore contradicts more recent releases. Example: Wheeler arrival by train on 28, when the taxi driver had in his notes that it was on the 29th. Think about it why would he arrive on the 28th early in the morning when he was working that day. Remember the train schedule? He'd have had to leave DC early in the AM. The 29th makes a lot more sense....But nothing is as uncommon as common sense!

Don't know if you've seen this AW, but Delaware Online has created a webpage that gathers all of it's news articles dating back to the beginning of this mystery. It includes a time-line, videos and photos. It's a good place for folks just getting on your pinglist to get up to speed on the history of the case.

Body discovered at Wilmington landfill
By ADAM TAYLOR The News Journal
January 01, 2011 06:00 AM
Several things interested me in this article
1. the body fell from the front end bucket of the truck.
2. WM knew where the body came from, but would not say.

No biggie, but I am going back to see what I might have missed in the earlier reporting.

BING is good!

Check the last paragraph in the thread Sailing posted:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2652614/posts

From: WPVI-TV Philadelphia
“Investigators have removed floor boards near the kitchen sink in Wheeler’s home and have surrounded the area with evidence tape....”

Found several references for the bootprints being nubbie and being larger than Jack’s feet.

Also reported the investigators spent the entire week end in the house gathering information, or gathering and taking evidence with them.

I keep forgetting about BING. I usually use Clusty (now called Yippy) as a backup. I use Google first only out of habit. It’s an old dog, new trick type thing. :-)

Thanks: from above link:

Investigators have removed floor boards near the kitchen sink in Wheeler's home and have surrounded the area with evidence tape.

They also dusted the kitchen floor for shoeprints which reveal someone was inside with what appears to be work boots with a knobby tread.

Well the dusting of the floor explains why there seems to be so much dirt on the floor.

I’ve put bing on my list....Google only if I must.

Still must sort though a lot of non-essential articles.

Remember that the investigators did not go into his home until after his body was found. IIRC he was last seen heading toward an area where the route 15 bus stop is that would take him home.....

His murderers did not think his body would be found, so there was probably quite a bit of evidence left on it.

Waiting till all the lab work is completely is REALLY difficult, but surely it will pay off.

I agree, the authorities knew right away what killed him, they initially admitted it, but then someone told them to shut up about it.

Newark police said Monday that they did determine a cause of death in the case and were not going to release it.

So which one is the truth and which one is trying to manipulate the guilty party?

Newark police said Monday that they did determine a cause of death in the case and were not going to release it.
Delaware officials said Tuesday, however, they don't have a cause of death yet. They're waiting for toxicology reports, but they are calling the death a homicide.

Am re-reading material too.

After reading what you mentioned, here is what stood out to me:

“... Because the police had to wade through medical waste...” Do they keep medical waste in a separate area of the truck? Is that why they knew where the body came from?

Also read today he was fully clothed and no attempt was made to hide him, (ie plastic bag. etc.)
As crass as it sounds to type it, someone (with help?) dumped a warm body in the dumpster.

Delaware officials = Beau Biden.

They knew the cause of death when the autopsy was done. Almost immediately as was reported before Beau stuck his finger in it.

BTW, since when does the State AG call the shots for local criminal investigations? Does he have the authority to control local criminal investigations? Do the local DA’s answer to him? I know it was discussed somewhere, but I forget.

I found this page which has a nice listing of many news articles from the beginning.

http://article.wn.com/view/2011/01/13/John_Wheeler_case_Wheeler_search_warrants_sealed_What_does_i/

Also at the top of that page is this paragraph from a Radell link.

New Castle County police in Delaware investigating the John P. Wheeler III case originally sought a search warrant to look through the former Army officers home in New Castle when his body was found in Cherry Island Landfill on New Year’s Eve morning. As the case progressed one search warrant turned into four, prompting searches of Wheeler’s condiminium shared with his wife Kathleen Klyce in Manhattan, NY as well as his 1993 Oldsmobile and the cell phone later found at his neighbor’s uncompleted house across the street. New Castle PD gets warrant New Castle law enforcement were granted the home search warrant, and the only evidentiary item...

The only reason I post that is because it mentions the search warrant for the NYC apt that someone on this thread tried to tell me did not exist.

Just to keep the record straight.

“Earlier that day, Wheeler had asked a pharmacist in New Castle for a ride to Wilmington. The News Journal of Wilmington said pharmacist Murali Gouro, who had filled Wheeler’s prescriptions in the past, said the former official looked upset.”

I was also thinking that this pharmacist would know what medications he was on, so if he acted oddly, which could have been a result of not taking those meds the pharmacist would have called a Dr. or at least insisted he wait there for help.

Since he didn’t I would lean towards Mr Wheeler’s medications not being an issue if he had forgotten to take them or if they were lost with his briefcase.
