KGUN9 TV is reporting that AP has released the name of the shooter. KGUN9 is refraining from giving the name until it can be confirmed.
KGUN9 TV is also reporting that the news conference has been moved to 2:00 p.m. local time. (3:00 CT/4:00 ET)

Folks, let’s just remember a lot of good people are hurt, dead, or grieving today. A bullet doesn’t know a Democrat from a Republican, and it could have been any of us in that crowd. A senseless attack that should sadden every American.
Just urging fellow FReepers to keep the political remarks and blame to ourselves for now.
Interesting how the left says that "words matter" and that words can influence people to do things like this. Of course this doesn't apply to al sharpton (Freddy's Fashion Mart)nor does it apply to the threats against Sarah Palin and her family.

This morning, in an unspeakable tragedy, a number of Americans were shot in Tucson, Arizona, at a constituent meeting with Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. And while we are continuing to receive information, we know that some have passed away, and that Representative Giffords is gravely wounded.
We do not yet have all the answers. What we do know is that such a senseless and terrible act of violence has no place in a free society. I ask all Americans to join me and Michelle in keeping Representative Giffords, the victims of this tragedy, and their families in our prayers.
SultanAlQassemi I really hope this Jared Laughner person didn't "convert to Islam" last month after a study tour in the North-Western Frontier Province.
Per Fox, congresswoman was shot through and through, meaning one one side of the head to the other and passed through her brain. She is out of surgery and still fighting for her life.
