Hawaii’s Governor Takes On ‘Birthers’ By SHERYL GAY STOLBERG
HONOLULU — Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie, who befriended President Obama’s parents when they were university students here, has been in office for less than three weeks. But he is so incensed over the “birthers” — conspiracy theorists who assert Mr. Obama was born in Kenya and challenge his right to be president — that he is already seeking ways to change Hawaiian law or regulation to allow him to release additional proof that the president was born in a hospital here in 1961.
“It’s an insult to his mother and to his father, and I knew his mother and father — they were my friends, and I have an emotional interest in that,” Gov. Abercrombie said in a telephone interview late Thursday night. “It’s an emotional insult, it is disrespectful to the president, it is disrespectful to the office.”
Mr. Abercrombie, who represented Honolulu in Congress until leaving Washington to run for governor, said he has initiated conversations with his attorney general and his health secretary about how he can make public more explicit documentation of Mr. Obama’s birth on Aug. 4, 1961, at Kapi’olani Maternity and Gynecological Hospital in Honolulu. He said he has done so of his own accord, without any request from the president or the White House, which declined to comment.
“He’s a big boy, he can take sticks and stones, but there’s no reason on Earth to have the memory of his parents insulted by people who’s motivation is solely political,” Mr. Abercrombie said. “Let’s put this particular canard to rest.”

Based on the naked photo’s of BHO’s mom that have been posted online I’d say she was pretty hard to insult. Just sayin.

I don't think the Obama team is behind this as that would be a suicide move unless they are confident of what is in the HI vital records, possibly because of what they have placed in the record, now that Abercrombie is Gov.
Some possibilities...
1. A cabal of progressives have found out that Obama is about to be embroiled in a scandal (Ulserman, true or not) and want him out now to get their candidate (Hillary?) ready for 2012. Obama has been “advised” to resign but he has refused, so now a DSA party elder and friend of his father Abercrombie is giving Obama a shove by threatening to release HI vital records file which will they all know will undermine Obama’s NBC eligibility in some way.
2. After the Dem slaughter of 2010 and with 23 Democrat senators facing running with Obama at the top of the ticket and with gridlock guaranteeing no further progressive agenda progress, the big money NY and globalist Dem elite have decided that Obama must not be the candidate in 2012. They can't “primary” him because the blacks would never understand and never forgive the Dems, so he must be forced to resign one way or the other, starting with the HI vital records.
3. The socialist wealth transfer, anti-war DSA left of Nancy Pelosi and Abercrombie and the rest of the progressive caucus are livid over the Bush Tax Cut deal and the 30,000 extra troops in Afghanistan through 2014. Abercrombie could be blackmailing Obama to end the Afghanistan War, “or else.”
4. Abercrombie may have ginned this up by himself and is simply blackmailing Obama with the threat that if Obama doesn't bail out Hawaii's socialist utopia (the HI deficit crisis is mentioned in the NY Times story), Abercrombie will reveal the HI BC files.
We have been told that Issa has placed a low priority on subpoenaing Obama’s vital records, but Abercrombie may not believe Issa or may have knowledge that another subpoena is coming. Abercrombie may be feeling vulnerable to being discovered to have assisted in the Obama usurpation and may be trying to get out in front of the posse by taking the lead in “changing HI law” to allow the HI government to disclose the the contents of Obama vital record file.
I am shocked to find this story in the NY Times today with the potential danger that it might hold for the guy who just got their favored repeal of DADT passed along with START. But the NY Times has been screaming mad at Obama for some time over Afghanistan and failing to print even more money.
Although the governor now claims she issued a news release stating Kapi’olani is Obama’s birthplace, the actual release said no such thing, making no reference to Kapi’olani nor any other specific location of Obama’s birth.
At the time of the 2008 election, the release featured the state’s director of health, Chiyome Fukino, who said: “There have been numerous requests for Sen. Barack Hussein Obama’s official birth certificate. State law (Hawaii Revised Statutes §338-18) prohibits the release of a certified birth certificate to persons who do not have a tangible interest in the vital record.
“Therefore, I as Director of Health for the State of Hawai’i, along with the Registrar of Vital Statistics who has statutory authority to oversee and maintain these type of vital records, have personally seen and verified that the Hawaii State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures.
“No state official, including Governor Linda Lingle, has ever instructed that this vital record be handled in a manner different from any other vital record in the possession of the State of Hawaii.”
Months later, in July 2009, she added another comment: “I, Dr. Chiyome Fukino, Director of the Hawaii State Department of Health, have seen the original vital records maintained on file by the Hawaii State Department of Health verifying Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawaii and is a natural-born American. I have nothing further to add to this statement or my original statement issued in October 2008 over eight months ago.”
Lingle’s radio statement could add further confirmation that a long-form, hospital-generated birth ceritifcate still exists, despite a February report by Britain’s Sky News which stated: “Authorities in Hawaii have provided an electronic record of Obama’s birth because the paper copy was destroyed in a fire which wiped out much of the state’s archives.”
Ironically, the governor’s pinpointing of the Kapi’olani Medical Center for Women and Children as well as her health director’s previous public statements on the matter statement are in apparent violation of Hawaii state law.
In two separate telephone interviews with WND, Janice Okubo, the Health Department’s public information officer, told WND that Hawaii law prohibited her from commenting on the birth records of any specific person.
Okubo cited Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 338-18, which pertains to “Disclosure of Records.”
That section states regarding the release of vital statistics records, “The department shall not permit inspection of public health statistics records, or issue a certified copy of any such record or part thereof, unless it is satisfied that the applicant has a direct and tangible interest in the record.”

Is it a coincidence these stories are coming up just as Obama is on his ‘Christmas’ vacation in Hawaii?? Obama is probably planning to run for re-election, but thanks to a law in his own state, he’s going to have a hard time unless he comes up with better documentation. A law allows citizens to challenge a finding of eligibility of presidential candidates to be included on the ballot in Hawaii. The elections office is supposed to hold a public hearing if you file a challenge within the right time frame. Gov. Abs may be trying to pre-empt such a challenge.

Don't bother because it didn't happen. There was never a press release from DOH stating that Obama was born in Kapi'olani. So did Lingle "misspeak" or did she intentionally lie?
Lingle’s statement is hearsay evidence and so is the statement of her health director.
The fact that Abercrombie is on the pages of the NY Times today stating “Let’s put this particular canard to rest” proves that Lingle did not put it to rest, despite your hectoring to the contrary.

Fukino’s first statement says “...have personally seen and verified that the Hawaii State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record...”
To parse this, Fukino has “seen and verified” _not_ the BC itself, but only that HI DOH “has” the BC “on record.”
Fukino did not say she saw the BC! She only verified that DOH has the "original birth certificate" on record
Then when the ambiguities of her statement were pointed out she comes out with the second statement which says “...have seen the original vital records maintained on file by the Hawaii State Department of Health verifying Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawaii...”
To parse this, this time she says she “saw” the vital records “verifying” Obama was born in HI. Did someone open a drawer and point to a folder? It is impossible to tell what records she “saw” or exactly who verified them or by what process were they verified.
She does not say that she, Fukino, verified them only that there were records verifying an HI birth. There could have been a late filing of birth with an affidavit from Grandma or an amended filing string of documents ultimately arriving at “verifying” an HI birth as late as 2007. There could have been an ambiguous initial filing with evidence of a Kenya birth, (like the “Blaine BC”) but which was subsequently “verified” to confirm an HI birth by affidavits in the vital records.
None of Lingle or Fukino's statements can be admitted in court as evidence, although the DOJ shamelessly asked that they be given "judicial notice" IIRC.
