HONOLULU — Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie, who befriended President Obama’s parents when they were university students here, has been in office for less than three weeks. But he is so incensed over the “birthers” — conspiracy theorists who assert Mr. Obama was born in Kenya and challenge his right to be president — that he is already seeking ways to change Hawaiian law or regulation to allow him to release additional proof that the president was born in a hospital here in 1961.

“It’s an insult to his mother and to his father, and I knew his mother and father — they were my friends, and I have an emotional interest in that,” Gov. Abercrombie said in a telephone interview late Thursday night. “It’s an emotional insult, it is disrespectful to the president, it is disrespectful to the office.”

Mr. Abercrombie, who represented Honolulu in Congress until leaving Washington to run for governor, said he has initiated conversations with his attorney general and his health secretary about how he can make public more explicit documentation of Mr. Obama’s birth on Aug. 4, 1961, at Kapi’olani Maternity and Gynecological Hospital in Honolulu. He said he has done so of his own accord, without any request from the president or the White House, which declined to comment.

“He’s a big boy, he can take sticks and stones, but there’s no reason on Earth to have the memory of his parents insulted by people who’s motivation is solely political,” Mr. Abercrombie said. “Let’s put this particular canard to rest.”

Lets have the real form because after hiding it through THIS amount of questioning and refused requests the normal American people do believe something serious is being hidden.

Those questions will not go away, no amount of ridiculing and prosecuting the requestors is going to make a damn bit of difference.

If unresolved the questions will continue after his term of office. There will be no end to the investigation of this omission on the part of Øbama and his circle of protectors and defenders. It will continue on and on until some day someone will slip, someone will get stepped on and want revenge, something will happen and the proof will be revealed despite fed-gov spooks around the world gathering bammy’s documentation for “safekeeping.”

It will happen and bammy will be “outed.” Perhaps literally.

Unless he is lying, this means there IS additional information, and that this additional information is only withheld because Obama refuses to release it.

Further, the witholding of this information is an emotional insult to the family.

So, why is Obama emotionally insulting his family by refusing to release this information? It's entirely in his hands -- The Governor can't release it, the people asking the questions can't get answers -- it's all Obama.

Anyway, if Obama could care less about the reputation of his mother, why should we care?

Of all the people who have ignored or trashed the motivations of the birthers, I hold the conservative media in the most contempt. They are entertainers and care more about their paychecks than the Constitution. They are posers.

I hope Abercommie's "anti-birther campaign" makes states pass eligibility laws -- it will be absolutely fascinating to watch Obama lawyers (mostly taxpayer funded, I bet) scramble to find ways around those laws.

Obama could end virtually all the controversy by releasing the long form BC, we little people have to do it..

Point is moot: Obama’s father is not a U.S. citizen, hence Obama is plainly ineligible as per THE LAW.
That’s incontrovertible, it is what the law says, both his parents must be citizens of this country.

There is a difference in having suspicions about something because of a lack of evidence to prove otherwise, i.e. "birthers" as opposed to asserting unequivocally as fact that which is unfounded and flies in the face of all known evidence, i.e. "truthers."

Yet how bazaar, (and additionally suspicious) that the MSM tries to cloud the distinction. Add to that the ease with which Obama could solve people's legitimate doubts and yet refuses. . . at extreme high cost;. . .well, you have some serious smoke.

Actually, in as much as the “birther” story is old, the one piece of new news, to me, in this article, is the curious fact that the present governor knew Obama’s parents, years ago.

Does anyone know the governor’s political history. Is there more of a tie-in with fellow-traveler Obama than random events in his & Obama’s parents’ college days in Hawaii?
