New York Governor Vetoes Fracking Bill
New York Times ^ | December 11, 2010 | Tom Zeller Jr.

Gov. David A. Paterson of New York on Saturday vetoed legislation intended to curtail natural gas development using the technique called hydraulic fracturing until a closer review of its effects can be undertaken.

Instead, the governor issued an executive order instituting a moratorium that extends until July 1, 2011 — beyond the date specified in the legislation — and that more narrowly defines the types of drilling to be restricted.

“This legislation, which was well intentioned, would have a serious impact on our state if signed into law,” Mr. Paterson said in a prepared statement. “Enacting this legislation would put people out of work – work that is permitted by the Department of Environmental Conservation and causes no demonstrated environmental harm, in order to effectuate a moratorium that is principally symbolic.”

We need the money. Even a total Democrat like Paterson knows it.

I have a well paying truck driving job because of the fracking industry and anyone that interferes with my job will face one pissed off, dirty fightin' old fart.

And I have nothing to lose if a fight goes against me, so I'll be singin' blazin' glory.

Most New Yorkers (and esp. those making the laws) can’t conceive of drilling, mining, farming or producing to earn money to live.

For them, money comes from others, or from the Federal Govt

Both the demonRAT legislature and the gov are double secret stupid.

Being from PA, I couldn't be more pleased.

The natural gas find is in the Marcellus Shale, about 10,000 feet below the surface, running through NY, PA, WV, VA, MD and OH and the harder that other states make it to develop these NATURAL GAS RESOURCES, the easier it is for PA.

We have 1,800 gas wells developed with another 7,000 licenses being issued.

By the time NY politicians get finished pulling all of their stunts, the hard working PA drillers will have such a competitive edge, that they won't even start drilling in the empire state.

It's OK with me, my natural gas bill has been cut in half.

Good for you. This should be filling the coffers of the Keystone State and her population for a while. I’ll also guess that the bulk of this income will be going to people who own land in the rural areas (those that cling to their guns and religion) making this technology beneficial to the country overall!

The GREENS are doing George Soros’s bidding here. There is a nationwide effort to destroy our ability to access and utilize the ocean of natural gas reserves in the United States. Soros owns huge reserves in Indonesia. If we declare our own reserves off limits, Soros makes billions. HIS DEMONRAT COMMIE PUPPETS ARE TRYING TO DESTROY US—AND MAKE SOROS EVEN WEALTHIER. Fracking must be used to make us energy independent.
