Westboro, The Antithesis of Christianity
The Constitution Club ^ | 12-11-110 | Isaiah's Cry

Posted on 12/11/2010 12:07:27 PM PST by TheConservativeCitizen

I have heard of Westboro’s rather unChristian-like behavior in the past, but never paid much attention to them. I happen to be watching CNN last night (no, I don’t make a habit of watching them, or any news show. They came on after another show that I had been watching), and some commentator named Anderson began talking about Westoboro’s latest antics. And I realized just how messed up they really are. When a group who claims to be Christians engage in actions to the contrary, there is something wrong with their teachings.

They say that God hates homosexuals (I’ll use the more politically correct term, rather than the hate-mongering speech they use). Where does it say that? I do know that Jesus said that God so loved the world (which includes homosexuals) that He sent His own Son to die for us. God loved even Elizabeth Edwards. They say that cancer is God’s curse on her for what she’s done. I wonder what excuse Westboro will use when their own leader comes down with cancer? According to them, there is only one cause of cancer.

Westboro is not, even by the loosest standard, Christian. To be blunt, they are no better than neo-nazi’s and white supremists. They do not have the grace of God. They do not have the Spirit of God in them. They are satan’s tool. And what’s worse, is that they claim to be God’s people. Jesus has one thing to say to them, “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

They do not understand the Scripture that states that we do not wrestle with flesh and blood, but against principalities in spiritual places. They are wrestling with flesh and blood, but are ignoring the spiritual battle that ultimately decides the outcome. They are fighting the wrong battle. And satan has them strung up like puppets in a show. They are carnal. They lack love and understanding. And not only that, but they could be the catalyst for the government clamping down on our right to free speech.

I pray that they will someday get saved, and know the true power and personality of God.

The Westboro "Baptist" "Church" is a front group that does its best to make Christians look bad. Notice how they always picket soldiers' funerals or the funerals of innocent bystanders who happened to meet an unfortunate end.

Do you ever see them picket gay-themed events anywhere? You would think that a group that is so against homosexuality would evangelize in places where there were lots of gays.

The fact that they don't bother doing this shows that they are nothing more than agent provocateurs.

They’re a family of lawyers, baiting people into hitting them so they can sue.

Your statement is very true. At the very least they should hav a permanent office in San Francisco and should be out in full force during the gay festival held there.

They do not have the grace of God.

They have religion. They have no relationship with the Lord. This is why they are lost. If they did know Him, they would never accuse Him of hating anyone.

This group is run by Satan and the cultural Marxists (media) uses this group to associate the word “Christian” with “evil”. Their effort to destroy Christianity and the natural family is to destroy Western Civilization and have their one-world utopia.

You have to look at the motive—why the media bothers to plaster them on the front page all the time and not the homosexual from Duke who raped his little black adopted son and was selling him to others on the internet.

Why the double standard?

They are into conditioning the thinking of people.....Christianity=bad

Homosexuality=good.

Political Correctness is a tool of cultural Marxists to invert good and evil, to shut down the truth. I quit watching main stream media years ago because the cultural Marxism was dripping from the mouths of all the Progressives and I saw through their indoctrination—made me sick:

White heterosexual men=evil and oppressive
Women=victims
Children=drudgery and waste of time
Multiculturalism=no culture is superior (lie—the American one is!)
Tolerance=tolerate all evil and NEVER judge!
Diversity=tower of Babel creates such unity and loyalty

This cr*p was in ALL schools by the early 70’s. W.F. Buckley wrote about this promotion of collectivist atheism and brainwashing in his dear alma mater in 1950 in his book, Man and God at Yale.

Gain knowledge...and fight this sewage being put into the minds of your children and grandchildren.

Resurrect the Christian paradigm that was the basis of ideology in this country for over 200 years.

What Phelps preaches against is what he is most into...Happens to a lot of preachers that are consumed by their lusts..

Phelps is a strange bird indeed.

Has been the “pastor” at Westboro since way back in ‘55. Hard to believe he was a tool of the “left” such as it was then, which was mainly the CPUSA and front groups.

In the ‘60’s he became active in civil rights protests. And he ran for office in Kansas as a DEMOCRAT on several, unsuccessful occaisions. He supported Gore for president and was photographed with him in ‘88. (posted earlier today)

Supposedly, he had at least one family member molested by a homo around that time which seemed to bring out the beast in him and the rest of his family/church. After that, it was “Katy bar the door” for Westboro extremism.

So, Phelps church is a bunch of ‘Rats who, as we know, USE pariah people for their own purposes and are the most anti-military people in America too. They are also over-represented in the trial lawyer profession, love to bitch and whine and find ways to scam money.

I’ve known some Baptist preachers who have gone bad but in my experience it was usually the “he ran away with the piano player” type of thing. Or maybe some financial irregularities. But nothing like Phelps.

I don’t much care for his anti-Swedish stance, either.

You are right on the money. Why doesn’t some investigative journalist find out for us who these people really are.

Thanks! I’ve researched Westboro, but these days my brain is like our pop culture, saturated with the latest thing and forgetting everything that isn’t in front of me. I need to be reminded of details. Hate is an ugly thing, and the Westboro congregation is seething with it.

A thought occurred to me the other night. How would the members of the non Christian acting Westboro Baptist Church act if; a group such as the Patriot Guard started protesting and picketing Them.
Oh say at the funerals of the members and their familes. Or the weddings of their kids. Or even their so called devotion services.
it probably would cause them some grief and could be fun for the Patriot Guard.

According to them, there is only one cause of cancer

Westboro is detestable (and unChristian, besides) - but in the evangelical world, this illness is a result of sin is gaining some traction.

I'm a Christian and a physician. For 34 years I have been dealing with serious illness in all its forms.

Mortal illness afflicts the best, the worst, and everybody in between. The idea that illness, and cancer especially, is caused by a flaw in a person's relationship with the Lord is a disgusting perversion - but it is sadly not limited to "pastor" Phelps and his crew.

Despite the Baptist name, they are not Christian (even if the media likes to paint them as such). They are cultists known as Tachmonites who have their own scripture divided into two categories: “delectable epics” and “letters to heretics.” The “delectable epics” (the term is the group’s) are based loosely on Acts in the New Testament. The epics detail the Tachmonites’ various protests against gays, President Bush, Elton John concerts, and the military and portray the Tachmonites alternately as invincible “super heroes” and defenseless victims of brutal rage. Some of the epics are in prose, and some in poetry. They believe Phelps is “the last prophet,” with the power to determine who will be damned and who will be saved. They themselves, as followers of Phelps, also have the power to condemn souls to hell.

Something interesting also to note is that the Dove World Fellowship group down in Florida who threatened to burn a Koran are friends with Phelps and have marched with him. I haven't looked up their theology, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are from the same mold.

Westboro is not, even by the loosest standard, Christian.

Westboro is denounced time and time again by the Christian community on FR. That should speak volumes.

It is being reported that Westboro Church to Protest Military Funeral in Bordentown, NJ tommorrow. I live near there and plan to show up to give my support to the family.

PFC Moore stood for us. NOW it’s your turn to stand-up and for him.
WESTBORO CHURCH has sent out press release and flyers that they plan to protest at the funeral of Pfc Benjamin Moore in Bordentown on Sat. 22nd. We need MASSIVE support for the Flag Line to shut these people down.
