'One dead' after Stockholm blasts

One person has been killed and at least one other hurt as two explosions rocked the centre of the Swedish capital, Stockholm, reports say. A car blew up near the busy shopping street of Drottninggatan, and another explosion hit nearby shortly afterwards, AP quoted police as saying. A man's body was discovered after the second blast, the agency reported. Swedish Aftonbladet newspaper showed images of a burning white car. The cause of the blasts is not yet known. Rescue services spokesman Roger Sverndal said the car which exploded had contained gas canisters, AP reported. A former AP worker, Gabriel Gabiro, was close to the second blast. "I saw some people crying, perhaps from the shock," he told the agency. "There was a man lying on the ground with blood coming out in the area of his belly, and with his personal belongings scattered around him."

FURTHER UPDATE:

Listened to the early radio news, here in snowy Stockholm: So far the police and other authorities do not divulge anything. "The explosions could be related. we don't rule anything out." And nothing from our leading politicians, except from our FM Carl Bildt, who twittered about "an attempted suicide bombing". He has now made himself unavailable and does not answer any questions according to his press-secreteray.

However, in the meantime the bloggers and the netizens have been active. The name, and personal history, of the (by now very likely) perp is available.

As I posted up-thread his name is:

Taimour Abdulwahab, 28 years old - born on the 12 December, 1981 (What a birthday.....)

He is an immigrant from Iraq. Arrived in Sweden 1992. Studied for some time in the UK. Spent time in Jordan last summer. (Note that in the Jihadi audio-file the man asks forgiveness from his family because he lied to them, when he told them he was looking for work while in the Mid-East lately. Instead he went there for "training".)

His Facebook account is full of links to religious sites. Has listed as favourites "Islamic Caliphate State" and the al Qaida-ideologue Sheikh Abu Muhammad al Maqdisi.

According to the blogger Gudmundson he also links to film clips from Muslim war zones: Chechnya, Iraq, etc, etc.

Gudmundson also found that he was active on the Muslim contact site, looking for a second wife:

And do you know why? Because our sons and daughters took the fight to them after 9/11 and decimated their leadership over the years. I also give major credit to covert operatives, whether FBI, CIA, NSA, and the rest.

We all get caught up in the obscene political climate and forget that best are out their fighting and dying and being maimed (which most forget).

It frustrates me that the MSM and the general public so rarely give credit for the those people who give all and have stopped numerous attempts by jihadists.
